Job Purpose To provide leadership and direction for the effective execution of maintenance functions for the new Aluminum Recycling Plant at Ras Al-Khair. The incumbent leads the setup and operation of the maintenance organization for the recycling facility, including the scrap processing, delacquering, melting and casting, homogenizing, sawing, and associated utility systems. The role provides leadership in establishing and maintaining records of all plant assets, delivering cost-effective and reliability-centered maintenance, monitoring and forecasting the maintenance budget, building strong working relationships between Production and Maintenance, and controlling maintenance warehouse inventories.
As this is a new facility, the role carries a strong readiness and establishment component during the project and commissioning phase, including building the maintenance strategy, populating the CMMS, defining the spare parts philosophy, and developing the maintenance team to operational readiness before first hot metal. The plant operates 365 days per year, which requires extensive planning, organization, and effective delegation and communication to subordinates to achieve production goals while meeting governing laws, regulations, and policies.
The incumbent must have highly developed human relations skills to direct, coach, lead, and motivate subordinates and to address the competing and conflicting demands of operation, reliability, and engineering services. Manage resources in compliance with EHS policies. Lead key safety initiatives such as employee safety meetings, toolbox discussions, risk assessments, EHS audits, and environmental compliance monitoring. Participate in and lead safety incident investigations. Monitor and improve processes, procedures, and equipment to reduce or eliminate safety hazards with a goal of zero injury. Accountable for ensuring department personnel follow safe standard operating procedures so that processes remain stable and product quality consistently meets or exceeds customer requirements. Maintain awareness of plant, corporate, and government safety and health regulations and initiate department action to ensure compliance. Manage, direct, coach, lead, and motivate subordinate personnel to achieve department goals safely and on time, while continuously improving subordinate skills. Drive change to create a continuous improvement environment. Lead departmental continuous improvement activities and participate in business-unit sponsored team activities.
Manage Cost
Develop annual maintenance plans and departmental budgets for the recycling maintenance areas. Monitor the maintenance budget to ensure costs are in line, determine variances, and address their causes. Manage and direct a program of maintenance for continuous plant operations at the least cost. Manage assigned contract maintenance services. People Management & Performance
Manage, direct, coach, lead, and motivate subordinate personnel to achieve department goals safely and on time. Continually improve subordinate skills in support of business need. Deal with disciplinary and grievance matters per company procedures. Maintain and foster positive labor relations and communication within Maintenance and across the plant's departments. Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships with all co-workers, to set mid and long-term objectives and vision for the department, and to independently handle projects. Proficiency in safety and environmental leadership, communications, labor relations, and cost management. Minimum Experience:
Over 10 years of work-related experience, with maintenance leadership experience in aluminum, Casthouse, or comparable heavy industry preferred. Experience with new plant setup, commissioning, or maintenance readiness is an advantage given the greenfield nature of the recycling project.
Ma’aden High-Performance Competencies:
Provide the vision and leadership to impact the rate of change in implementing recognized best practices in maintenance planning and execution.
