This is a full-time position focused on ensuring the integrity and longevity of critical energy assets.</p><h3><strong>Role Purpose</strong></h3><p>The primary purpose of this role is to provide essential technical assurance and review for EPC contractor deliverables. <p>The substation specialist will be in charge of supervising on site all works related to the substation. Location : one in Ghunan (KSA), one in Salwa (KSA) and one in Silaa (UAE). His role is to make sure construction is done properly according to defined standards, tender documents and design studies.</p><ul><li><p>He will work closely with contractor in case of difficulty or delay on the construction site in order to avoid any delay or claim or defect.</p></li><li><p>He will report to project management on a weekly basis and on an immediate basis if an emergency arises. He will assist project management on potential claim treatment.</p></li><li><p>He will review and validate the design proposed by the contractor in his area of expertise. Depending on the workload he will also review design studies of other projects.</p></li><li><p>The services to be provided in supervising the entire works include organizing, planning, supervising and directing the implementation program.</p></li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Major Accountabilities And Tasks:</strong></p><ul><li><p>Supervise the construction and shall make efforts to ensure the expeditious and economical construction thereof in accordance with the terms of the EPC Contracts.</p></li><li><p>Monitor the EPC Contractor in order to ensure quality, safety, schedule and compliance to approved design. He will lead site inspections.</p></li><li><p>Detect and anticipate issues/problems at site and suggest solutions in liaise with project management and EPC teams.</p></li><li><p>Review and assess Contractor's Daily Report.</p></li><li><p>Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to carry out commissioning activities.</p></li><li><p>Interpret drawings, specifications and consult with contractors (if required) to ensure compliance with the program.</p></li><li><p>Rectify any errors revealed in the detailed design or the working drawings.</p></li><li><p>Supervise inspection, testing and commissioning,</p></li><li><p>Oversee site safety, health, and environmental aspects regularly to ensure a safe, environmentally friendly site environment with zero man-hour loss.</p></li><li><p>Maintain records of site activities, progress, non-conformities, remedial actions, follow-up history, near-miss cases, lessons learned, and interface cases at the site level.</p></li><li><p>Perform site progress meetings and attend monthly meetings if required by the Project Management.</p></li><li><p>Certify all report of materials, certify site progress reports, all inspections performed and attended by him or his team at site, joint measurement certificates to certify the progress of works and related invoicing. Acceptance tests and commissioning shall be carried out by the Contractor and shall be supervised by the substation specialist, in the presence of client representatives.</p></li><li><p>Coordinate the required interface for outages with client's stakeholders and the contractors.</p></li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Additional Information</strong></p><p>The engineer will report to the project manager and project coordinator. He will be part of a team of approximately 14 engineers or assistant engineers staffed on the project and located on various sites of the project.</p><p><strong>Desired Candidate Profile</strong></p><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li><p>The substation specialist shall be an electrical engineer with minimum 10 years’ experience in 400 kV substation turnkey installations for similar project in nature and complexity. </p></li><li><p>He must have proven record on working on similar projects, both on design and on construction phases. </p></li><li><p>He must be able to demonstrate a strong attention to field safety. </p></li><li><p>Working language will be English (spoken and written). Speaking Arabic would be appreciated (but not mandatory).</p></li></ul>
