You will also provide directions to junior underground power cable unit personnel.</p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><p>As the successful candidate, you will be required to perform the following:</p><ul><li>Supervise and perform high potential cable testing to 230 KV, perform megger tests to determine faulted phases and assist phasing of energized conductors to 35 KV.</li><li>Install, repair and maintain all HV transmission/distribution cables (solid dielectric, PILCA, LPOF, submarine) and conducts required testing to meet standards.</li><li>Locate cable or equipment faults and operating irregularities by making the necessary diagnostical tests, measurements, analysis and determine nature of repairs or modifications to be made, and replacement parts required.</li><li>Track discrepancies, maintain a technical library, and continuously audit equipment-recording cable routes, IDs, specs, conditions, test results, past failures and needed fixes.</li><li>Acquire clearances, perform switching, receive work permits and restore equipment to service; when such activities are required to perform work in a timely manner.</li><li>Supervise and perform preventive maintenance on high voltage cable and equipment terminations for substation switchgear, transformers, and ancillary electrical equipment.</li><li>Perform splices, terminations, taps, potheads, transitions, and elbows from detailed construction drawings and manufacturer's instructions.</li><li>Locate cable faults by tracing and marking routes, testing both ends, identifying splices/disturbances, using thumping and high-voltage burn-set to clear high-resistance faults, pinpointing the exact fault, repairing it, checking oil pressure, sealing LPOF leaks and refilling oil.</li><li>Train subordinate technicians in diagnostics, troubleshooting, test, repair, and maintenance procedures /methods.</li><li>Use various testing equipment like Insulation resistance, and Partial discharge, Very Low Frequency, Tan delta power factor, Time Domain Reflector, Hi Protentional AC/DC.</li><li>Install and maintain high voltage cables (e.g., solid dielectric, paper insulated lead covered (PILCA) cables, low pressure oil filled (LPOF) cables, and submarine cables and testing of high-pressure oil filled (HPOF) cables) and performs splicing, terminations, and testing.</li><li>Supervise cable excavation, ensure de-energization and safety grounding, and oversees cable laying for high and medium voltage cables.</li><li>Performs commissioning tests on new cable.</li></ul></div></section><section><p class="heading">Desired Candidate Profile</p><p class="paragraph"></p><ul><li>You will hold a Diploma/industrial degree in electrical field.
