Position Objective The General Manager will have overall responsibility for the performance of Westeel, including sales, estimation, engineering, procurement, production, project execution, quality, financial performance, workforce productivity, and business development. The successful candidate must be capable of running the company as a complete business—not simply managing factory operations. Key Responsibilities Business Leadership & P<ake full responsibility for Westeel's operational and financial performance. Provide management with clear monthly reporting covering commercial, operational, production, and financial performance. Identify underperformance early and implement corrective actions. Build scalable systems and organizational structures capable of supporting significant future growth. Sales & Business Development Lead the commercial growth of Westeel across Saudi Arabia and regional markets. Develop strong relationships with EPC contractors, industrial companies, developers, consultants, government entities, and major private-sector clients. Build and manage a structured sales pipeline. Ensure the sales team actively develops new customers rather than depending solely on existing relationships or incoming inquiries. Review major quotations, commercial proposals, and contract negotiations. Ensure projects are selected based on profitability, capacity, strategic value, and commercial risk. Support development of long-term framework agreements and strategic customer relationships. Estimation & Commercial Control Ensure accurate estimation of steel tonnage, material cost, fabrication hours, engineering cost, transport, erection, subcontracting, overhead, and project risk. Establish strong tender review and bid approval procedures. Ensure quotations reflect realistic production and procurement costs. Monitor estimated versus actual project costs and use completed-project data to improve future estimates. Protect company margins during contract negotiation and project execution. Prevent uncontrolled discounts, scope gaps, and commercially weak commitments. Engineering & PEBOversee structural steel and PEB engineering functions. Ensure designs are optimized for safety, constructability, fabrication efficiency, and steel weight. Promote value engineering and economical structural solutions. Ensure engineering deliverables are completed according to project schedules. Strengthen coordination between engineering, estimation, procurement, production, and site teams. Ensure compliance with applicable international and local codes and customer specifications. Manufacturing & Production Take overall responsibility for factory production performance. Establish clear weekly and monthly production targets measured in tonnes, fabrication hours, utilization, productivity, and delivery performance. Improve factory workflow from raw material receiving through cutting, drilling, fitting, welding, blasting, painting, packing, and dispatch. Minimize bottlenecks, idle manpower, excessive overtime, rework, and material waste. Ensure proper production planning and capacity allocation between projects. Develop measurable productivity benchmarks for each production activity. Drive continuous improvement and increasing automation within the factory. Ensure machinery and equipment are properly utilized, maintained, and upgraded when commercially justified. Procurement & Supply Chain Develop reliable sources for structural steel plates, coils, beams, channels, angles, consumables, paint systems, fasteners, and other required materials. Establish strong supplier qualification and procurement controls. Maintain competitive sourcing without compromising material quality or delivery reliability. Reduce dependence on single suppliers. Negotiate strategic supply agreements where appropriate. Coordinate procurement closely with production schedules to minimize shortages and excessive inventory. Ensure traceability of materials and compliance with project specifications. Project Delivery Maintain oversight of major projects from award through engineering, procurement, fabrication, delivery, erection, completion, and collection. Ensure contractual milestones are achieved. Monitor project schedules and intervene before delays become critical. Ensure clear responsibility between factory, project management, logistics, and erection teams. Maintain strong relationships with clients throughout project execution. Ensure variations and additional works are properly documented and commercially recovered. Quality, HSE & Compliance Maintain a strong quality-management culture throughout the organization. Ensure fabrication complies with approved drawings, welding procedures, inspection requirements, material specifications, and applicable standards. Reduce NCRs, customer complaints, rejected material, repair welding, and rework. Maintain proper welding qualifications, inspection records, material certificates, traceability, and quality documentation. Ensure strong HSE standards across factory and project sites. Ensure company operations comply with regulatory, contractual, and internal governance requirements. People & Organization Build a competent and accountable management team. Define clear responsibilities and reporting lines across departments. Establish KPIs for department heads and key personnel. Conduct structured management and performance-review meetings. Identify skills gaps and recruit strong technical and commercial personnel where required. Develop internal talent and succession planning. Create a culture based on accountability, urgency, teamwork, transparency, and measurable performance. Take corrective action where persistent underperformance exists.
