This role works under the technical direction of the Lead IECEx Inspector, takes ownership of specific classified areas, mentors and checks the work of Field Inspectors, and contributes directly to NCR identification, close-out verification, and inspection record quality. The initial deployment covers the PP12 Expansion CCGT IPP Project (1,800 MW, Durma, KSA) spanning 14 classified hazardous areas from Zone 0 to Zone 2, covering natural gas, hydrogen, and diesel oil hazard categories. The Senior Field Inspector is expected to operate with a high degree of independence within their certified competency scope and to deputize for the Lead Inspector on routine area-level decisions when required. Key Responsibilities All responsibilities are performed in compliance with IEC 60079-17:2023, IEC 60079-14:2013, API RP 505:2018, and the project Hazardous Area Classification drawing, and strictly within the Senior Field Inspector's certified competency scope. 1. ITP & SOP Application • Execute and oversee inspection activities strictly in accordance with the approved Inspection & Test Plan (ITP) — apply the correct inspection grade for each activity and verify that Field Inspectors do the same. • Identify and escalate any activity that falls outside the current ITP scope to the Lead Inspector before proceeding. • Apply and reinforce all approved SOPs in the field — cable gland inspection, conduit sealing checks, earthing continuity verification, and enclosure integrity checks. • Coach Field Inspectors on correct SOP application and correct any deviations observed during fieldwork. 3. Inspection Execution (Visual, Close & Detailed) • Personally perform and quality-check Visual (V) and Close (C) grade inspections across assigned areas — equipment certification checks, cable gland and gland-to-cable compatibility verification, bolt/fastener checks, and conduit sealing checks. • Use only Ex-rated or non-sparking tools when working within classified zone boundaries. • Perform Detailed (D) grade inspection activities within personal certified scope — including instrument testing, insulation resistance checks, and enclosure internal inspections, as authorized by the Lead Inspector. • Record all test results accurately and flag any reading outside acceptance criteria immediately. • Spot-check the work of Field Inspectors within the assigned area — verify inspection grade accuracy, photographic evidence quality, and completeness of inspection records before submission. 4. Non-Conformity Report (NCR) Management • Identify non-conformances during inspection and provide an initial classification recommendation (Critical / Major / Minor) to the Lead Inspector for confirmation. • Ensure all NCRs raised within the assigned area are supported by clear photographic evidence, equipment tag, area code, and relevant standard clause reference. • Conduct first-level re-inspection of rectified NCR items within the assigned area — confirm physical correction matches the reported corrective action before recommending close-out to the Lead Inspector. 5. Documentation & Records • Complete and review inspection record forms for the assigned area — ensure equipment tag, area code, ITP reference, inspection grade, result, and photo reference are accurate and complete for every item. • Consolidate and submit the assigned area's daily inspection records to the Document Controller within the same working day. • Maintain an area-level progress log — equipment inspected, NCRs raised/closed, and percentage completion — and report this to the Lead Inspector at the end of each shift. 6. Tools, Instruments & Calibration • Verify calibration status of all instruments used by the team in the assigned area before each shift — confirm calibration sticker, expiry date, and certificate availability. • Withdraw from service immediately any instrument found damaged, malfunctioning, or out of calibration, and notify the Lead Inspector. • Maintain accountability for tools and instruments issued to the assigned area team — ensure proper storage, handling, and return at the end of each shift. 7. HSE & Site Safety • Lead by example on all zone entry requirements — valid Permit to Work, active calibrated personal gas detector, and buddy system — and confirm compliance by all team members in the assigned area. • Confirm evacuation routes and muster points for the assigned area before any new work activity, particularly in Zone 0/1 areas. • Lead or contribute to Job Safety Analysis (JSA) briefings for the assigned area's daily activities — identify hazards specific to that area and confirm team understanding of controls. • Exercise stop-work authority for unsafe conditions observed within the assigned area and report immediately to the Lead Inspector or HSE Officer. • Ensure all team members in the assigned area comply with mandatory PPE requirements and sitespecific HSE rules, including heat stress management protocols during summer working hours. 8. Schedule & Mobilization • Complete all personal certificate submission, medical clearance, and site induction requirements before the confirmed joining date. • Confirm tool and PPE issue for self and assign Field Inspectors before first site entry. • Plan and sequence inspection activities within the assigned area to meet the overall project schedule — notify the Lead Inspector promptly of any delay, access obstruction, or resourcing issue. 9. Schedule & Team Coordination & Mentoring • Provide day-to-day supervision and technical guidance to Field Inspectors assigned to the same area — ensure work is performed within each individual's certified competency scope. • Mentor junior Field Inspectors on inspection technique, standard interpretation, and professional site conduct. • Report progress, findings, and obstacles to the Lead Inspector clearly and promptly.
