Reporting to the BHIG Engineering Manager, the incumbent acts as a subject-matter expert (SME) on HYCO process technology, providing day-to-day operational and technical support to Regional Sites and mentoring junior process engineers.</p><h3><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h3><ul><li>Provide senior technical authority and subject-matter expertise for HYCO process engineering across the Region, including mentoring and peer review.</li><li>Lead and support regional teams for new installations, plant modifications, ongoing operations, and continuous improvement activities for various technologies including Air Separation Units (ASU), Hydrogen/Syngas (HYCO – SMR based), and CO2 production.</li><li>Ensure all activities comply with legal requirements, BHIG safety, and technical standards, providing technical support and safety leadership for process safety initiatives such as MOC, OPHR, PHA/HAZOP, and LOPA.</li><li>Drive asset performance, reduce operating costs, and increase plant throughput through troubleshooting, efficiency studies, process safety, equipment reliability, and advanced process control (APC).</li><li>Apply process statistics and data analytics to detect performance drift, quantify variability, prioritize improvement opportunities, and validate implemented changes.</li><li>Develop, maintain, and validate steady-state and dynamic process simulation models using Aspen Plus and associated tools for troubleshooting, benchmarking, and optimization.</li><li>Provide expert technical support on heterogeneous catalyst systems used in HYCO/Hydrogen plants, covering assessment, evaluation, management, and change-out strategies.</li><li>Facilitate operational excellence through continuous improvement in plant productivity, reliability, quality, and cost, leading improvements and deploying best practices.</li><li>Lead investigations and Root Cause Analyses (RCA) to identify and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.</li><li>Monitor plant production daily, driving asset performance to meet targets for profitability and customer satisfaction.</li></ul><h3><strong>Operational and Safety Accountabilities</strong></h3><ul><li>Provide process engineering support to operations for the safe and reliable operation of SMR-based HYCO and CO2 facilities, meeting customer expectations and contractual requirements.</li><li>Ensure adherence to BHIG standards and Air Products global best practices for EH&S, productivity, reliability, quality, and customer service.</li><li>Offer technical guidance to commissioning teams, supporting start-up and troubleshooting activities, and participating in Operations team training.</li><li>Participate in developing the month-end close model and ensure alignment with commercial obligations for the BHIG Middle East Commercial Area.</li><li>Maintain close working relationships with engineering and maintenance personnel through a Plant Process Advisory model.</li><li>Support Process Intelligence Center (PIC) initiatives such as plant monitoring, troubleshooting, and simulation training.</li><li>Provide technical support for turnarounds, including catalyst inspection, sampling, change-out planning, and post-turnaround performance validation.</li><li>Provide and maintain a safe work environment, demonstrating visible safety leadership, and participating in safety-related meetings and programs.</li></ul><h3><strong>Qualifications and Experience</strong></h3><ul><li>A minimum of <strong>12 years of experience</strong> in process engineering, preferably within the HYCO, ASU, or CO2 production sectors.</li><li>Demonstrated expertise as a technical authority and subject-matter expert in HYCO process technology.</li><li>Proficiency in process simulation tools such as Aspen Plus and associated Aspen suite tools.</li><li>Experience with heterogeneous catalyst systems, including Hydrodesulfurization (HDS), ZnO sulfur absorbers, Pre-Reforming, Steam Methane Reforming (SMR), High-Temperature Shift (HTS), Low-Temperature Shift (LTS), and Methanation.</li><li>Strong background in process safety management (PSM) initiatives, including MOC, OPHR, PHA/HAZOP, and LOPA.</li><li>Proven ability to apply process statistics and data analytics for performance improvement.</li></ul><h3><strong>Work Environment and Collaboration</strong></h3><p>This full-time position involves close collaboration with Air Products global, regional, and local process/production engineers, Regional Operations team members, project and design engineering teams, and process safety specialists.
