About Salla and the Role

Salla is developing the digital infrastructure for commerce in the region, supporting merchants in establishing, growing, and scaling their businesses. This full-time role for a Senior Product Manager - Catalog is critical to simplifying complex processes into scalable solutions. The Catalog serves as the foundational layer for all merchant-facing surfaces, including storefronts, search, recommendations, and various sales channels. Its quality directly impacts the performance of all downstream systems.

Key Focus Areas

The Senior Product Manager will drive impact across five primary areas, focusing on efficiency and scalability in product data management:

The Catalog Engine and Category Setup: Developing a unified engine where category-specific product record requirements are managed through configuration, enabling rapid and repeatable support for new categories.

Product Data Input: Overseeing the creation, bulk import, and editing processes for product data.

Structure and Meaning: Managing taxonomy, attributes, variants, identifiers, normalization, and deduplication of product data.

AI Enrichment: Implementing AI for extracting and generating product data from existing merchant inputs, with clear policies on confidence, review, and correction.

Downstream Fitness: Ensuring product data performs effectively across consumption points such as search results, storefronts, recommendations, and external channel feeds.

Responsibilities

Define and manage the end-to-end catalog strategy, including quarterly sequencing, internal defense, and accountability for projected outcomes.

Develop the roadmap for product data creation and improvement on Salla, prioritizing based on downstream data performance rather than field completeness.

Design solutions for users who create product data, including those not directly owning the store, making efficient data input the default path.

Ensure that adding a new category is a configuration task, not an engineering project, demonstrating reduced effort between successive additions.

Integrate AI for data generation, suggestion, or exclusion, establishing confidence policies and learning loops from merchant corrections.

Define and instrument catalog quality metrics at Salla, linking them to data consumption surfaces rather than mere completeness.

Manage the performance of product data in external selling channels, addressing strict requirements and rejections.

Determine the balance between imposed data structure and merchant flexibility, defending these decisions.

<li 0="" 6px;"="">Lead a team of 2 to 3 product managers, fostering ownership, coaching their approach, maintaining operational cadence, and elevating team output quality.

Collaborate with dependent teams, including search and discovery, storefronts, vendors, marketplace, and data teams.

Qualifications and Requirements

Six or more years of experience in product management, with a focus on self-serve platforms where users generate content or data, and accountability for the quality of user-produced data.

Demonstrated experience in improving a measurable data metric, such as completeness, accuracy, time to publish, tool adoption, or downstream data performance.

Evidence of influencing user-generated data quality at the point of creation, rather than through post-production cleanup.

Platform judgment, including experience building configurable solutions for multiple use cases and articulating design trade-offs.

Experience with AI in production for structured data (extraction, classification, generation, or matching), including knowledge of confidence thresholds, error rates, and handling errors at scale.

Proficiency in product data structuring, including taxonomies, attribute schemas, variants, identifiers, matching, deduplication, and external channel requirements.

Experience coaching product managers, formally or informally, and readiness to lead a small team while remaining hands-on.

Ability to own outcomes, navigate ambiguity, and establish clarity in complex situations.

Attention to detail and a collaborative approach, recognizing that data impacts all downstream functions.

Merchant context within the region is preferred.

Willingness to relocate to Saudi Arabia and work on-site.

Experience Required

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in product management.

Application Process

We invite qualified candidates to apply for this opportunity to contribute to Salla's commerce platform.
