Mirai is seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer (Design Systems) to establish and lead the design function for its Generative AI team. This full-time position, based in Riyadh, involves designing AI products for web and mobile platforms. The primary objective is to address design inconsistencies by defining user flows, screens, states, and visual interactions for shipping products, and crucially, to transform this design work into a robust, engineering-ready design system.

Key Responsibilities

Design user flows, screens, states, and interactions for Generative AI products across web and mobile, covering all experience states (empty, loading, error, edge cases, first run, subsequent uses).

Establish and maintain the visual language for team products, including typography, color, spacing, layout, iconography, and motion.

Prototype designs to facilitate decision-making.

Identify recurring design patterns to define tokens, components, and documented patterns for the design system.

Build and maintain the design system in Figma, ensuring adherence to standards (variables, component properties, auto layout, libraries).

Deliver the design system to engineering in a directly usable format, such as exported design tokens, generated CSS or theme configurations, and written usage rules with examples.

Keep the design system updated with product changes, including versioning, documentation, and retirement of unused elements.

Package the system to ensure AI-assisted work adheres to it by default, implementing repository-level rules and skills for coding agents.

Collaborate with engineers during system adoption, reviewing shipped products against designs, and refining the system as needed.

Ensure the design system remains non-blocking, allowing for efficient screen development without dependency delays.

Designing for Generative AI Products

Develop design patterns specific to AI products, including chat and conversational interfaces, streaming output, visible agent steps and tool calls, citations, sources, and human review/approval processes.

Design for inherent uncertainties in AI, such as latency, partial answers, and model errors, providing user affordances for correction or agent control.

Integrate AI tooling into the design process (*, Figma, Claude Design, handoff layers) to efficiently translate design decisions into usable artifacts.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Experience: Eight or more years in UI/UX or product design, demonstrating ownership of design decisions.

Craft and Judgment: Strong visual and interaction design skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions based on user benefit.

AI Tooling Integration: Deliberate use of AI tools in design work, with an understanding of their benefits and limitations.

Portfolio: A portfolio of work available for discussion and walkthrough.

Valued Assets

Experience designing for AI or agentic products.

Familiarity with design token pipelines (*, Style Dictionary, W3C design tokens format).

Front-end development ability beyond the token layer, such as building components.

Accessibility practices, including keyboard and focus behavior and screen reader semantics.

Experience with right-to-left and bilingual interfaces, particularly Arabic and English.

Expertise in motion and interaction design, dense or data-heavy interfaces, or data visualization.

Experience with usability testing or research to validate design decisions.

Role Impact and Context

This role offers the opportunity to define the visual and experience direction for the team's products and establish the design system. Design decisions, once systematized, will influence all products shipped by the team, including AI-generated work. The position involves designing interaction patterns for agentic products not typically covered by existing design systems and integrating AI tooling into daily design practice.
