<p style="margin:0 0 12px; ************;">Aljomaih Energy & Water is seeking an experienced <strong style="font-weight:700;">Chemist</strong> to join its team in Ash Shimasiyah, Al Qassim Province. This full-time position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and is central to managing water quality, conducting chemical analysis, overseeing chemical inventory, and ensuring strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures. The role involves close collaboration with operational and maintenance teams, promoting safety, and contributing to research and development initiatives, particularly during the critical pre-PCOD phase.</p> <h3 style="font-size:18px; font-weight:700; margin:16px 0 8px;">Key Responsibilities</h3>

<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Oversee water treatment programs for cooling water, boiler feed water, and wastewater, ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory standards.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Conduct regular water quality tests and analyses, including pH, conductivity, and alkalinity, adjusting treatment processes as necessary.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Perform quantitative and qualitative chemical analyses on various samples such as fuels, lubricants, and process fluids to maintain optimal operating conditions.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Develop and validate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for laboratory analyses and chemical testing.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Manage the procurement, storage, and handling of all plant chemicals, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental guidelines.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Maintain adequate stock of chemical consumables and equipment to ensure timely availability and uninterrupted laboratory services.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Track and document chemical usage, maintaining accurate inventory records.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Adhere to all relevant HSE procedures and ensure chemical processes and waste management comply with environmental regulations.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Prepare required reports and documentation for environmental audits and regulatory agencies.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to provide chemical insights and recommendations for optimizing plant performance.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Participate in troubleshooting and Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) related to chemistry issues impacting plant operations.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Promote a strong safety culture and provide training to plant personnel on chemical safety and handling procedures.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Stay updated on advancements in chemical processes and technologies, conducting research to develop improved treatment methods.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Maintain accurate records of laboratory analyses, chemical usage, and compliance checks, preparing periodic performance reports.</li>
</ul> <h3 style="font-size:18px; font-weight:700; margin:16px 0 8px;">Pre-PCOD Phase Engagement</h3>
<p style="margin:0 0 12px; ************;">A significant aspect of this role involves responsibilities during the pre-PCOD (Pre-Commercial Operation Date) phase, including:</p>

<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Supporting the Owner during the design review, installation, commissioning, testing, and trial operation periods.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Reviewing and finalizing Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Preparing site-specific procedures and Work Instructions.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Ensuring Maintenance team authorization as Permit Receivers.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Facilitating the timely placement of subcontracts.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;">Ensuring laboratory and chemistry management readiness for the operational period, including staff training and system/process implementation.</li>

<p style="margin:0 0 12px; ************;">The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic background combined with extensive practical experience:</p>

<li style="margin:0 0 6px;"><strong style="font-weight:700;">Education:</strong> Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.</li>
<li style="margin:0 0 6px;"><strong style="font-weight:700;">Experience:</strong> A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in chemical analysis and laboratory operations, preferably within a power generation or industrial chemical setting.</li>

<li style="margin:0 0 6px;"><strong style="font-weight:700;">Regulatory Knowledge:</strong> Familiarity with environmental regulations pertaining to water quality and chemical management, alongside industry best practices.</li>
</ul>
Job Summary:To ensure that the plant runs with maximum performance, efficiently and effectively by coordinating all plant operations activities.<br>Roles & Responsibilities:Ensure implementation of effective and efficient policies and procedures relating to all Power and Desalination Plants. Monitor daily performance of all the plants and to ensure that all the parameters are within the specified limits. Recommend/follow-up acid cleaning of Desalination Plant as and when required. Carry out trouble shooting, in co-ordination with Operation staff in power and desalination. Coordinate with Shift Charge Engineer and Chief chemist to improve the efficiency by doing any changes in operational activity with Operations Manager approval. Recommend/follow-up as and when required distillate stage sampling and to interpret the results, if there is doubts of tube leak. Carry out detailed inspection of plant during annual maintenance and follow-up the annual maintenance. Prepare monthly performance summary of plants. Ensure Environmental Aspect-Impact and Hazard Risk Assessment are carried out, controlled and updated. Implement, monitor and report IMS objectives, Targets and programs. Provide necessary resources for effective implementation and sustenance of IMS. Report IMS performance to the management periodically. Ensure Legal compliance with respect to their scope of activities. Ensure identification of root cause for the identified non conformances/ deviations and to implement corrective actions/Preventive actions. Identify the competency gap for their subordinate personnel and implement necessary actions. Carry out annual performance evaluation of reporting employees. Responsible to ensure the compliance to legal requirements, contractual and organizational requirements. Provide on-the-job training to new employees and evaluate their OJT Performance. Identification, documentation and control of hazards in assigned work area. Ensure aspects identified are monitored and operational controls are followed. Report deviations in Integrated Management System, identify root cause and implement corrective and preventive actions. Reporting of emergencies and incidents and near misses. Effective resource utilization. Perform other duties as assigned.<br>Job Specifications:<br>Education: Bachelor of Engineering / Postgraduate in engineering with power plant engineering is must.<br>Minimum Experience (Type and duration): 8-10 years in Power/Desalination/RO plant experience in Middle East.<br>Required Skills:Awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety and Environment Management system principles Knowledge of applicable legal requirements Hazard Risk assessment Aspect Impact assessment Investigating skills Knowledge of spillage containment Knowledge of managing HSE emergencies Knowledge of identification, classification and disposal of waste Knowledge of Emission Monitoring Should be well conversed with Power/Desalination/RO Operational activities and efficiency calculations.
