<h2 class="h5">Job description</h2> <div class="t-break" data-jb-field="description"> <p><strong>Job Purpose / Objective&nbsp; </strong></p><br> <p>Consultant Interventional Cardiologist is fully responsible to provide high standard of clinical practice and expertise in the assessment, investigation, diagnosis and treatment of patients in the area of Cardiology. Physician should actively involve in continuous quality improvement activities of department and hospital to achieve the goals of HMG.</p><br> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities&nbsp;&nbsp; </strong></p><br> <ul> <li>Manage the assigned clinics as per the approved rota by the Medical Director.</li> <li>Admit the patients under care whenever indicated within the limits of the approved and assigned privileges.</li> <li>Responsible for the initial assessment, investigation, analysis &amp; interpretation of the clinical findings and test results, arriving at diagnosis, treatment, and re-assessment and follow- up of the patients to reach a final diagnosis.</li> <li>Prescribe, administer medication, therapy, and/or other appropriate care to treat or prevent further complication of the disease.</li> <li>Responsible for explaining procedures and discussing diagnostic results or prescribed treatments with the patients and/or with the authorized attendants.</li> <li>Monitor the patient’s condition and progress and re-evaluate/ re-assessment and treat the patient accordingly.</li> <li>Refer the patient to other consultants/specialists when necessary, also consult, or provide consulting services to, other physicians whenever requested.</li> <li>Undertake daily rounds on Patients admitted under his/her name and any referred patients.</li> <li>Document and ensure completeness of all medical records of the patients as per the policies of the hospital and update on the progress of the patient appropriately.</li> <li>Authenticate the medical records at initial entries and progress notes by logging in with own username and password in Patient Health Records.</li> <li>Review and validate the entries and notes of all junior medical staff in case of patients under his care.</li> <li>Perform diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures for which the Consultant is privileged for.</li> <li>Approve the completed discharge summary, follow-up plan, medical report of the patients.</li> <li>Assume duties as the Head of the department as and when required by the management.</li> <li>Ensure the implementation of all approved policies, procedures, rules, regulations, protocols, guidelines and clinical pathways that guide and support the provision of clinical services.</li> <li>Direct, supervise and coordinate the activities of specialists, residents, nurses, therapists, assistants and other medical staff involved in patient care.</li> <li>Advise and contribute to the development of policies and procedures as part of the continuous quality improvement program of the department.</li> <li>Serve on Departmental / Hospital Committees as required.</li> <li>Ensure that Islamic Values and Medical Ethics are respected and strictly observed.</li> <li>Responsible to be On-Call as per hospital policy.</li> <li>Attend the Code Blue, whenever applicable, and should be involved in all other emergency codes of the hospital.</li> <li>Provide the Patient Medical reports and information as and when required by the Head of the department or Hospital Administrator/Medical Director of the Hospital.</li> <li>Identify and bring all Medico-Legal Cases to the notice of the management on time in accordance with the hospital policy.</li> <li>Participate in the provision of clinical / academic activities of the hospital.</li> <li>Play an active role in the education of the patient and his/ her family on a healthy lifestyle. <p>Performs clinical duties as per his / her assigned clinical privileges. Assesses his / her patients thoroughly (eg. clinical, socioeconomic, psychological and functional assessments) and documents patients' assessment in patients' medical records. Develops a plan of care for patients using an evidence-based approach and following standards of care, and documents the plan of care in patients medical record. Ensures that patients plan of care that is put by him/her is being implemented in a timely manner. Becomes the most responsible physician (MRP) for inpatients admitted under his / her name. For inpatients admitted under his / her name, develops discharge plan on day of admission and involves discharge-planning service as early as possible if warranted. Assesses inpatients that are admitted under his / her name at least once daily and ensures documentation of daily assessment and plan of care in daily progress notes using SOAP format. Responds to medical consultations in timely manner. Documents medical interventions that he / she performs on patients in a timely manner. Strictly follows Fakeeh care standards for documentation in medical records Responsible for timely completion and authentication of discharge summaries for patients admitted under his / her name. Also responsible for ensuring that indicated discharge instructions and education on take home medications is done prior to patients discharge. Attends to Fakeeh Health Care facility duties and responds to calls from the facility as per the departmental /section call schedule. Attends departmental and general staff meetings and contributes ideas for improving efficiency, productivity and patient satisfaction. Responsible for writing medical reports of his / her patients in a timely manner and as per Fakeeh care format Contributes to teaching rounds and teaching activities as requested by chairperson of medical department Educates patients and their families about health conditions, treatments and preventative measures. Other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job.
