<p>Position: Asst Manager /Dy Manager - SMS - Refractory Place of Posting - Saudi Arabia Qualification: BE/B.tech in Production/ Mechanical/ Industrial Engineering Experience: BE/B.tech - 4+ Years Job Purpose This position is to lead refractory operations during the assigned shift in the Steel Melt Shop (SMS). The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring optimum refractory performance, lining life, safe execution of refractory maintenance, and uninterrupted operation of Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF), Continuous Casting Machine (CCM/Caster), Tundish, and other auxiliary units . The role requires expertise in refractory installation, gunning, fettling, lining optimization, refractory consumption control, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Shift Operations Lead and supervise all refractory activities during the assigned shift across the Steel Melt Shop. Ensure uninterrupted refractory support to production with minimum delays and downtime. Coordinate with Production, Mechanical, Electrical, Operations, and Planning teams for smooth execution of refractory maintenance activities. Prepare and communicate shift handover reports, highlighting equipment status and pending activities. Refractory Maintenance Responsible for refractory management of: Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF) Steel Ladles Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) Tundish Delta Roof &amp; Side Walls Furnace Bottom &amp; Working Lining Tap Hole &amp; EBT Area Burner Blocks Impact Pads Launders and Hot Metal Transfer Systems (where applicable) Key responsibilities include: Monitoring refractory wear patterns and lining conditions. Ensuring timely patching, gunning, fettling, and hot repair activities. Supervising relining and repair schedules. Optimizing refractory campaign life. Reducing refractory consumption without compromising safety or quality. Refractory Performance &amp; Optimization Monitor refractory life of furnaces, ladles, and tundishes. Analyze refractory failures and recommend corrective actions. Improve lining life through operational and maintenance best practices. Optimize refractory consumption (kg/ton of steel). Coordinate refractory trials and evaluate new refractory products and suppliers. Implement standard refractory maintenance procedures. Shutdown &amp; Maintenance Planning Plan and execute refractory maintenance during scheduled shutdowns. Coordinate with maintenance teams for major refractory replacement activities. Ensure availability of refractory materials, tools, and consumables before shutdowns. Monitor contractor performance during shutdown execution. Quality Assurance Ensure correct selection, storage, handling, and installation of refractory materials. Verify adherence to refractory installation standards and OEM recommendations. Inspect refractory workmanship and quality before equipment commissioning. Maintain records of refractory consumption and campaign performance. Safety &amp; Compliance Ensure compliance with all HSE policies and procedures. Enforce Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and risk assessment practices. Conduct toolbox talks and promote a strong safety culture. Ensure safe handling and storage of refractory materials. Maintain compliance with ISO standards and statutory regulations. SAP &amp; Documentation Create and close work orders and maintenance notifications in SAP PM. Maintain refractory performance records and maintenance history. Monitor refractory inventory and coordinate with stores for timely replenishment. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly refractory performance reports. Continuous Improvement Drive Kaizen, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and cost optimization initiatives. Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for premature refractory failures. Identify opportunities to improve lining life and reduce refractory costs. Support operational excellence and productivity improvement projects. Team Management Lead and supervise shift technicians, operators, and contract manpower. Allocate manpower effectively to meet operational requirements. Train and mentor team members on refractory installation, repair techniques, and safety practices. <p><b>Position</b>: AM/DM SMS Mechanical(Shift Incharge) Place of Posting - Saudi Arabia Qualification: BE/B.tech Mechanical/ Production/ Industrial Engineering Experience: BE/B.tech - 3+ years / Diploma 6+ years</p><p>Job Purpose This position is to lead shift maintenance activities in the Steel Melt Shop (SMS). The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring high equipment availability and reliability across Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF), Continuous Casting Machine (CCM/Caster), Fume Treatment Plant (FTP), and Raw Material Handling System (RMHS) through effective preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance while driving safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.</p><p><b>Key Responsibilities</b></p><p>Mechanical Maintenance Lead and supervise mechanical maintenance activities during the assigned shift for all SMS equipment. Ensure maximum equipment uptime through effective preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance. Monitor the health and reliability of critical mechanical systems and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime. Coordinate maintenance activities with production to achieve shift production targets.</p><p>Equipment Coverage Responsible for maintenance of:</p><ul><li>Electric Arc Furnace (EAF)</li><li>Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF)</li><li>Continuous Casting Machine (CCM/Caster)</li><li>Fume Treatment Plant (FTP)</li><li>Raw Material Handling System (RMHS)</li><li>Dust Collection System</li><li>Conveyor Systems</li><li>Cooling Water Systems</li><li>Hydraulic Systems</li><li>Lubrication Systems</li><li>Gearboxes, Pumps, Fans, Blowers, Compressors</li><li>Cranes and Material Handling Equipment (coordination with crane maintenance team where applicable)</li></ul><p>Hydraulic &amp; Lubrication Systems Ensure reliability and maintenance of hydraulic power packs, cylinders, valves, pumps, accumulators, piping, and servo systems. Monitor lubrication systems and implement best lubrication practices. Conduct oil analysis and preventive maintenance to improve equipment life.</p><p>Shift Operations Lead shift maintenance manpower and allocate resources effectively. Attend breakdowns promptly and restore equipment within minimum MTTR. Coordinate with production, electrical, refractory, utility, and operations teams. Prepare shift reports and hand over pending activities to the next shift.</p><p>Reliability &amp; Continuous Improvement Analyze recurring equipment failures and implement Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Drive Kaizen, TPM, Lean Maintenance, and reliability improvement initiatives. Improve MTBF and reduce maintenance costs through systematic planning. Participate in shutdown planning and execution.</p><p>SAP &amp; Maintenance Planning Create and close maintenance notifications and work orders in SAP PM. Maintain maintenance history, equipment records, and spare parts consumption.
