In fact, we owe our growth to the confidence with which our customers approach us for solutions.
Role Goals and Objectives:Lead hydrological and hydraulic studies that support the engineering and design of renewable energy, power infrastructure, and mining projects, including solar and wind plants, substations, transmission corridors, access roads, and mine sites. Direct field assessments and data collection to characterise flood risk, drainage, and surface water flow across project areas, and translate the findings into design inputs for civil and infrastructure teams. Develop, review, and finalise comprehensive hydrological reports that set out the methodology, results, and flood mitigation and drainage design solutions aligned with project layout, schedule, and cost objectives. Ensure all assessments, designs, and recommendations meet local and international standards for hydrological and hydraulic engineering, environmental compliance, dam and water-retaining structure safety where applicable, and the specific technical requirements of renewable energy, power, and mining clients. Responsibilities Plan and conduct site surveys and field assessments across renewable energy, power infrastructure, and mining sites to collect the data needed for design, including topographic, rainfall, runoff, soil infiltration, and geological information. Use and oversee hydrological software and tools, including Digital Elevation Models (DEM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), to delineate watersheds, map drainage networks, and define catchment boundaries relevant to plant, substation, and mine layouts. Carry out in-depth analysis using on-site data and regional resources (for example rainfall stations, intensity-duration-frequency curves, and geological maps) to assess drainage patterns, watershed characteristics, and flood risk affecting project infrastructure and operations. Lead the development of hydrological models using HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and similar software to simulate peak flows, flood hazard zones, and flow velocities for a range of return periods, including the design storms required for energy and mining infrastructure. Conduct 1D and 2D hydraulic modelling for floodplain mapping using software such as Tuflow and Bentley Storm CAD, producing flood inundation maps, hazard maps, and channel flow simulations to inform site grading and infrastructure layout. Prepare hydrological and drainage design studies as part of feasibility, FEED, and detailed design stages, providing clear inputs and design criteria to civil, structural, geotechnical, and electrical engineering disciplines. Propose and design engineering solutions for flood and erosion mitigation, including channel and culvert designs, riprap and scour protection, retention and detention basins, and site drainage infrastructure suited to renewable energy, power, and mining facilities. Recommend channel dimensions, flow capacities, and site grading adjustments that address internal and external flood mitigation, access road and crossing protection, and scour protection for foundations, equipment pads, and other critical infrastructure. Integrate sustainable drainage practices, water reuse opportunities, applicable green building codes, and value engineering principles into proposed solutions to reduce environmental impact and lifecycle cost. Prepare detailed hydrological and drainage reports documenting methods, assumptions, findings, and design recommendations, supported by maps, hydrographs, calculations, and technical drawings suitable for client and authority review. Support mining and power projects with specialised water studies where required, such as mine site surface water management, pit and pond water balance, tailings and pond drainage, and stormwater management around substations and generation facilities. Ensure compliance with local and international codes for hydrology, drainage, environmental protection, and site safety, including FEMA, USDA, and Saudi regulatory standards, as well as client and lender technical requirements. Review and verify the accuracy of all data, modelling results, and engineering designs before submission, ensuring alignment with the overall project design, interface requirements, and regulatory obligations. Lead a team of hydrologists, engineers, and field technicians, providing clear technical direction, training, and coordination across the design and project delivery phases. Coordinate with project managers, design engineers, clients, and contractors to align hydrological analysis and flood risk management with the broader engineering design and project delivery objectives. Provide mentorship and training to team members on specialized field and modeling techniques, safety protocols, and reporting standards.
Skills and Attributes:Strong knowledge of hydrological and hydraulic engineering principles, particularly flood risk assessment, watershed management, drainage design, and water resources engineering for infrastructure projects. Advanced skills in hydrological and hydraulic modelling software, including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Tuflow, Bentley Storm CAD, and Arc Map or Arc GIS. Demonstrated experience delivering hydrological and drainage design studies for renewable energy, power infrastructure, or mining projects across feasibility, FEED, and detailed design stages. Strong analytical and reporting skills, with expertise in interpreting rainfall data, watershed morphology, and hydrograph data, and in translating results into clear design inputs and recommendations. Leadership skills with the ability to manage, train, and coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams and liaise effectively with project stakeholders, clients, and authorities.
Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 8-12 years of experience in hydrological analysis, hydraulic modelling, and report generation, including hands-on involvement in engineering and design studies for renewable energy, power infrastructure, or mining projects. Proven track record of preparing and reviewing hydrological and drainage design deliverables in an EPC or engineering consultancy environment, working alongside multidisciplinary design teams. Professional certification (e.g., Professional Engineer (PE) license) preferred.
