Role Description:<br>We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Head of Accounting to lead and manage the company’s entire accounting function.<br>The successful candidate will be the senior accounting professional within the company, reporting directly to senior management and taking full responsibility for accounting operations, financial reporting, project accounting and costing, cash flow monitoring, budgeting, taxation and Zakat compliance, and internal controls.<br>The ideal candidate must have strong practical experience in contracting and construction accounting and be capable of both leading the accounting team and being directly involved in day-to-day accounting activities, closing, reporting, and compliance.<br>Key Responsibilities:<br>Accounting & Financial Reporting<br>* Lead and manage all accounting activities and supervise the accounting team.* Manage monthly and annual closing processes and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.* Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements and management reports.* Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, fixed assets, accruals, provisions, and bank reconciliations.* Ensure proper accounting treatment and compliance with applicable IFRS requirements.* Coordinate with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.<br>Contracting & Project Accounting<br>* Manage all aspects of construction and project accounting, including project cost centers, progress billings, advance payments, retentions, and project-related accounts.* Monitor actual project costs against approved budgets and identify and analyze cost variances.* Prepare and review project cost and profitability reports for management.* Review subcontractor and supplier accounts, payments, reconciliations, and outstanding commitments.* Ensure accurate recognition and allocation of project revenues, costs, accruals, provisions, and Work in Progress (WIP).* Maintain proper accounting control over project advances, guarantees, retentions, and other project-related balances.<br>Cash Flow & Budgeting<br>* Monitor the company’s cash flow and prepare periodic cash flow forecasts.* Support management in prioritizing payments and managing short-term financial commitments.* Prepare the company’s annual budget and monitor actual performance against budget.* Provide management with timely financial analysis and information to support operational and business decisions.<br>VAT, Zakat & ZATCA Compliance<br>* Manage and review all VAT, Zakat, and tax compliance requirements applicable to the company.* Prepare, review, and submit VAT returns accurately and within statutory deadlines.* Prepare, submit, and follow up on VAT refund claims, including supporting documentation and communication with ZATCA until completion.* Prepare and review Zakat filings and coordinate with external tax/Zakat advisors when required.* Handle communications with ZATCA, including inquiries, assessments, audits, examinations, objections, and related correspondence.* Perform periodic VAT reconciliations between tax returns, accounting records, and supporting documentation.* Review the VAT treatment of project contracts, purchases, suppliers, and subcontractors.* Ensure compliance with e-invoicing requirements and other applicable ZATCA regulations.* Maintain and monitor the validity of relevant Zakat and tax certificates and regulatory requirements.<br>Internal Controls & Systems<br>* Develop, implement, and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.* Ensure proper documentation, approval, and authorization of accounting transactions.* Ensure effective utilization of the company’s accounting/ERP system.* Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting quality, and financial controls.<br>Qualifications & Experience<br>* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.* Minimum 12 years of professional accounting experience.* Minimum 5 years of direct accounting experience within contracting or construction companies – mandatory.* Previous experience in a senior accounting role such as Chief Accountant, Accounting Manager, or Head of Accounting.* Strong hands-on experience in construction accounting, project costing, cost centers, progress billings, retentions, subcontractor accounts, WIP, and project profitability analysis.* Strong hands-on experience with VAT returns, VAT refund claims, Zakat filings, VAT reconciliations, e-invoicing, and dealing with ZATCA.* Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and internal controls.* Good knowledge of IFRS and Saudi accounting, Zakat, and tax requirements.* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.* Strong analytical, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.* Professional certifications such as SOCPA, CMA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent are preferred.<br>Important<br>Direct experience in contracting or construction accounting is mandatory. Candidates without relevant contracting/construction experience will not be considered.
