<p>Responsible for a specified procedural area to perform Clinical Neurophysiology Procedures. Essential Responsibilities and Duties 1. Works independently and ensures a proper environment for testing in the laboratory, wards, Emergency Room (ER), or Intensive Care Units (ICUs). 2. Obtains medical history of patient and summarizes relevant data. Puts patient at ease and explains procedure. Safely performs auditory, visual or electrical stimulation of the nervous system. Adjusts settings of equipment to ensure proper and accurate test results. Recognizes and eliminates artefacts to produce meaningful diagnostic information. 3. Measures and applies multiple electrodes precisely, carefully, and securely to predetermined anatomic sites. Based on patient s age, diagnosis, current state and medical history, performs Digital Video Electroencephalography (EEG), Visual, Brainstem Auditory and Somatosensory Evoked Potentials, Nerve conduction Studies, Sleep studies, Pulse Oximetry, Autonomic Studies and Long Term Video/Digital Encephalographic monitoring (LTM), in both adult and paediatric patients. 4. Performs urgent diagnostic tests on critically ill patients in ICUs and the ER on mobile equipment or in the laboratory setting in coordination with nursing and respiratory therapy personnel. 5. Monitors patients with surgically implanted intracranial electrodes. 6. Assists physicians with invasive procedures in Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring, Electrocorticography and Electromyography. 7. Monitors patients intraoperatively. Performs complex pre-operative setups with electrodes on multiple anatomic sites. Watches and assesses the quality of the neurophysiologic waveforms. Follows the patient s systemic and anaesthetic state while keeping track of surgical activities. Communicates with and gives feedback to Neurophysiologist as necessary. 8. Observes patient reactions clinically and electrographically during testing. Notes signs of distress, medical emergencies, or seizures. Takes remedial action, notifies nurse and physician, if necessary. 9. Makes preliminary analysis and description of the waveforms or potentials, ensuring that it is meaningful and acceptable. Notes pertinent data for physician review. 10. Ensures safety of patient and safe operation of equipment. Informs supervisor in writing of equipment faults. Maintains work area. Summary<p>Provides technology expertise in sleep studies and performs sleep procedures to aid in the comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders.</p><br><br>Essential Responsibilities and Duties<br><p>1. Performs sleep studies including overnight sleep study, MSLT, CPAP, and BiPAP titrations. </p><br><br><p>2. Prepare patient for sleep studies, including admission, education, setup all electrodes, and discharge after completing polysomnography assessment </p><br><br><p>3. Reviews medical history, clinical information, medications, and analyses patient information including procedure request and verifies documentation. </p><br><br><p>4. Applies electrodes and sensors with appropriate post calibrations to ensure that the signals are artifacts free. </p><br><br><p>5. Performs troubleshooting as necessary for acquiring good quality sleep data. </p><br><br><p>6. The Surveyor supports the Surveying team in carrying out land and engineering surveys for construction, infrastructure, and land development projects.
