Job Details

• Ensure all work activities are carried out in strict compliance with IMI Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) policies and the International Maritime Industries Management System (IMIMS). • Receive job scope, priorities, and workforce planning instructions from the Pipe Welding Supervisor; ensure proper distribution of work among Chargehands and tradesmen. • Supervise all piping welding, ensuring tasks are executed to the specified technical and safety standards. •Lead 3-5 welding chargehands with their teams’ tradesmen/welders, distributing tasks efficiently and monitoring workmanship and time usage. • Demonstrate good knowledge of welding, materials and grades, tools and welding equipment. • Allocate daily the manpower based on the priorities being received. • Conduct daily toolbox talks, ensure PTWs are in place, and verify that all crew members are using proper PPE and safety practices. • Identify scope variations, additional works, or constraints (e.g., access, material shortage) and escalate promptly to the Supervisor. • Verify work completion through daily inspections, record progress, and ensure all documentation (weld logs, test reports, etc.) is up to date. • Guide and mentor tradesmen including subcontractors in safe work practices, quality awareness, and productivity improvement. • Ensure proper housekeeping onboard, including waste removal, scrap management, and restoring work areas to clean conditions at shift end. • Coordinate the shift handover process, ensuring accurate communication of work status, pending items, and safety concerns to incoming teams. • Support training, multi-skilling, and development programs for assigned personnel to improve capability and performance. • Monitor the actual onboard progress versus the planned one and take appropriate steps to correct the delays if any. • Facilitate training and development of tradesmen personnel whenever it is required. • Visit regularly project work whether in workshops, onboard, in docks, or other open areas where pipe welding activities are taking place to check on progress and give technical advice and guidance. Ensure all control measures are in place for safety, environmental aspects and housekeeping. • Perform other relevant tasks as directed by the line manager

The Foreman, Pipe Welding is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily welding/gouging activities onboard ships and rigs and at workshop. This role ensures that all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and the International Maritime Industries Management System (IMIMS). The Foreman works closely with, Pipe Welders, the Welding Supervisor, QC, Safety and other departments to monitor progress, manage manpower, and address site issues, ensuring timely and successful completion of assigned scopes.
