The Repair & Maintenance Technician III - Liner Hangers is responsible for providing advanced hands-on technical support in the maintenance, inspection, repair, and refurbishment of liner hanger and related drilling tool equipment. The role focuses on diagnosing mechanical and functional issues, executing repairs in accordance with approved procedures, and ensuring all tools meet operational and quality standards prior to field deployment. This position operates primarily within a workshop environment and plays a critical role in minimizing non-productive time (NPT) and supporting safe, efficient field operations.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all company safety policies, quality standards, and operational procedures at all times.
- Perform preventive, corrective, and condition-based maintenance on liner hanger systems and associated drilling tools.
- Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble tools in compliance with engineering drawings, technical manuals, and work instructions.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and functional tool issues and execute accurate, timely repairs.
- Conduct troubleshooting, refurbishment, pressure testing, and mandatory upgrades or modifications as required.
- Ensure all tools are inspected, tested, and certified fit for service before release to operations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, repair history, and parts consumption.
- Plan and prioritize workshop workloads to meet operational schedules and field requirements.
- Communicate technical findings, risks, and improvement recommendations to supervisors and workshop management.
- Coordinate with sub-contractors and provide technical oversight or guidance when required.
- Safely operate forklifts, cranes, and lifting equipment in accordance with certification and site regulations.
- Follow job safety analyses (JSA), risk assessments, and safe lifting practices during all tasks.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude with proven experience in liner hanger and drilling tool maintenance.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, assembly schematics, and technical documentation.
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex tool failures.
- Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a workshop team.
- Basic computer proficiency for maintenance tracking, reporting, and inventory systems.
- Certified (or willing to be certified) in forklift and crane operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of practical experience in workshop repair and maintenance, preferably within the oil & gas industry.
- Proven experience with liner hanger systems and drilling tools.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance best practices, HSE regulations, and quality control procedures.
- Hands-on experience with wellbore cleanup tools.
