Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement the commercial strategy for the business, ensuring alignment with overall corporate objectives.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to drive growth and profitability.
- Financial Management:
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for all construction projects.
- Monitor financial performance, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and to the required quality standards.
- Conduct regular financial reviews, identifying and mitigating risks to profitability.
- Contract Management:
- Lead contract negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Manage and resolve any disputes that arise during the course of projects.
- Ensure that all contracts are executed in line with company policies and procedures.
- Procurement:
- Oversee the procurement strategy, ensuring cost-effective sourcing of materials and services.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors.
- Project Management:
- Work closely with project managers to ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.
- Monitor project progress, addressing any issues or delays that may arise.
- Ensure that health and safety standards are maintained across all sites.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the commercial team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Provide training and support to staff as needed to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks to the business and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Ensure that the company complies with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations are exceeded.
- Act as the main point of contact for all commercial matters, ensuring clear and effective communication with clients and stakeholders.
Skills
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or relevant master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial management within the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and project management.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale construction projects and delivering them successfully.
- Excellent financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
