Warehouse Supervisor Job Description
Position Summary: A Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring efficient and accurate receipt, storage, and distribution of goods. They manage warehouse staff, enforce safety standards, and ensure that inventory is properly tracked and maintained. The supervisor ensures smooth and timely operations while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Management:
- Supervise, train, and motivate warehouse staff.
- Assign tasks and ensure proper staffing levels for daily operations.
- Monitor performance, provide feedback, and address performance issues.
- Conduct regular meetings with the team to discuss objectives and issues.
- Inventory Control:
- Ensure accurate inventory management and regular stock checks.
- Oversee inventory tracking systems to prevent stock discrepancies.
- Coordinate the movement of goods in and out of the warehouse, ensuring inventory is properly organized.
- Logistics and Distribution:
- Plan, organize, and monitor the loading, unloading, and shipping of goods.
- Ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and delivered on time.
- Monitor shipping schedules and resolve delays or issues.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following all safety regulations and policies.
- Conduct regular safety training and implement safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety laws and industry standards.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements to streamline warehouse operations.
- Monitor and maintain equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Implement best practices to increase productivity, reduce errors, and optimize workflows.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare reports on warehouse performance, inventory levels, and shipping metrics.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory and warehouse operations.
- Assist in the development of budgets and cost-control measures.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Warehouse Supervisor or in a similar role.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory software.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in warehouse operations.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with different departments.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field is a plus.
- 3-5 years of experience in warehouse operations or logistics, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
