Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Obtains and analyses medical histories, results of investigations and consultations together with sociocultural, psychodynamic and ethical issues.
- Provides empathetic, non-directive prenatal, paediatric and general genetic counselling in the discussion of the diagnosis, natural history, mode of inheritance, plan of care, genetic testing and/or prenatal testing options, alternative options for dealing with the issues at hand.
- Informs and counsels patient and/or families throughnon-directive counselling taking into consideration and respecting all ethical standards of privacy and confidentiality.
- Calculates risk (e.g. recurrence risk, presymptomatic diagnostic risk) incorporating information such as medical history, family history, the availability of genetic testing as well as relevant test results into the appropriate statistical methodology (e.g. Bayesian analysis). Orders appropriate laboratory tests under the supervision of Senior Genetic Counsellor.
- Uses independent judgement to critically appraisepublished and unpublished data regarding testing options for a specificdisorder and incorporates this appraisal into genetic counselling and follow-upplan.
- Develops a genetic assessment and counselling care planin collaboration with the clinical geneticist, and the patient.
- Assesses individuals/families comprehension of theinformation provided during the counselling session and how this is beingincorporated into their decision-making process with the resulting follow- upsessions booked accordingly.
- Addresses issues of loss and bereavement to assist thefamily in making the best possible adjustment to the disorder in an affectedmember and/ or the risk of recurrence of that disorder.
- Provides written consultation summary letter tophysicians, healthcare providers and patient/ families as well as referralletters to consultative services. Develops standard counselling letter forvarious genetic disorders.
- Follows all Hospital s related Policies and Procedures.
- Participates in self and others' education, training anddevelopment, as applicable.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education Master s Degree in Genetic Counselling, or Bachelor s Degree in Applied Sciences,Applied Health Education, or other related discipline pulse Diploma in Genetic Counselling (Post-Bachelor Degree) is required.
Experience Required Grade 09: No experience required with Master s, or one (1) year of related experience with Bachelor s Degree Pulse Diploma is required. Grade 10: Three (3) years of related experience with Master s, or four (4) years with Bachelor Degree Pulse Diploma is required.
Other Requirements(Certificates) Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) is required.

المسؤوليات الأساسية والواجبات
- يحصل على السجلات الطبية، نتائج التحقيقات والاستشارات جنباً إلى جنب مع القضايا الاجتماعية-الثقافية، الديناميكية النفسية والأخلاقية.
- يوفر استشارة وراثية جنينية، أطفال، وعامة متعاطفة وغير موجّهة في مناقشة التشخيص والتاريخ الطبيعي، ونمط الوراثة، وخطة الرعاية، والاختبارات الوراثية و/أو خيارات الاختبار قبل الولادة، والخيارات البديلة للتعامل مع القضايا المطروحة.
- ي inform ويستشير المريضة و/أو العائلات من خلال الاستشارة غير الموجهة مع مراعاة واحترام جميع معايير الخصوصية والسرية الأخلاقية.
- يحسب الخطر (مثلاً خطر التكرار، الخطر التشخيصي قبل الأعراض) مع دمج معلومات مثل History الطبي، وتاريخ العائلة، وتوفر اختبارات جينية، بالإضافة إلى نتائج الاختبارات ذات الصلة في المنهج الإحصائي المناسب (مثلاً تحليل بايزيان). يطلب الاختبارات المخبرية المناسبة تحت إشراف مستشار وراثة أول.
- يستخدم الحكم المستقل لتقييم نقدي للبيانات المنشورة وغير المنشورة فيما يتعلق بخيارات الاختبار لاضطراب معين ويضمّن هذا التقييم في الاستشارة الوراثية وخطة المتابعة.
- يطوّر تقييم وراثي وخطة رعاية استشارية بالتعاون مع الوراثي السريري، والمريض.
- يقيم فهم الأفراد/العائلات للمعلومات المقدمة خلال جلسة الاستشارة وكيفية إدماجها في عملية اتخاذ القرار مع ترتيب جلسات المتابعة الناتجة.
- يعالج مسائل الفقدان والحداد لمساعدة العائلة على التكيّف بأفضل شكل مع الاضطراب لدى عضو مصاب و/أو خطر تكرار ذلك الاضطراب.
- يوفر خطاب ملخص استشاري مكتوب للأطباء ومقدمي الرعاية الصحية والمريض/العائلات وكذلك رسائل إحالة للخدمات الاستشارية. يطور رسالة استشارية قياسية لمختلف الاضطرابات الوراثية.
- يتبع جميع سياسات وإجراءات المستشفى ذات الصلة.
- يشارك في تعليم وتدريب وتطوير الذات والآخرين، وفقاً لما ينطبق.
- يؤدي واجبات أخرى ذات صلة كما كُلِّف بها.
المرشح المطلوب
التعليم درجة الماجستير في الاستشارة الوراثية، أو درجة البكالوريوس في العلوم التطبيقية، التعليم الصحي التطبيقي، أو تخصص ذي صلة؛ دبلوم في الاستشارة الوراثية (بعد درجة البكالوريوس) مطلوب.
الخبرة مطلوبة: الدرجة 09: لا خبرة مطلوبة مع الماجستير، أو سنة واحدة من الخبرة ذات الصلة مع درجة البكالوريوس والدبلوم المرتبط مطلوب. الدرجة 10: ثلاث سنوات من الخبرة ذات الصلة مع الماجستير، أو أربع سنوات مع درجة البكالوريوس والدبلوم المرتبط مطلوبة.
متطلبات أخرى(الشهادات) التسجيل الحالي من بلد المنشأ والهيئة السعودية للتخصصات الصحية (SCFHS) مطلوب.
