Position: HSE Manager (HVDC Projects) Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Department: QEHS
About the role:The HSE Manager will lead all Health, Safety, and Environmental activities for HVDC transmission and substation projects, ensuring compliance with SEC requirements and applicable regulations. The role is responsible for developing and implementing HSE plans, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture across project sites. The successful candidate will manage and mentor HSE teams while monitoring project performance to achieve the highest safety standards. They will coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure effective HSE compliance and issue resolution. A valid SEC approval and proven HVDC project experience are mandatory for this position.
Key Responsibilities:• Lead and manage the HSE function across project operations.• Plan and monitor HSE manpower and resource requirements.• Develop and enhance the competency of HSE Engineers and Officers.• Conduct and oversee risk assessments and mitigation plans for site activities.• Develop, implement, and monitor HSE procedures and safe work practices.• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and site teams to ensure compliance and resolve HSE-related issues.• Monitor HSE performance, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Safety, or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years of relevant HSE experience. Proven experience working on HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) transmission and/or substation projects. Valid SEC (Saudi Electricity Company) approval is mandatory. Strong knowledge of HSE Management Systems, standards, and applicable codes. Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal). Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure. Strong leadership, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred:Previous experience on large-scale power transmission, grid, or energy infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia. Familiarity with SEC standards, requirements, and HSE compliance procedures.
