Job description
Job Purpose:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network & Telecom Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, planning, and configuring network infrastructures and low-voltage systems for our construction projects. You will oversee the technical team on-site, ensure that all installations align with engineering standards and project specifications, and manage high-level technical configurations and approvals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Planning: Prepare and develop shop drawings for data networks and low-voltage systems (LAN, WAN, Fiber, CCTV, and Access Control).
- Material Submittals & BOQ: Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ), review technical specifications of materials, and submit Material Submittals for consultant approval.
- Advanced Configuration: Perform advanced programming and configuration of core network devices, including switches, routers, and firewalls, ensuring robust network security.
- On-Site Supervision: Supervise and guide the on-site technician team, monitoring work progress and ensuring adherence to the project schedule.
- Testing & Commissioning: Review and approve on-site test reports (such as Fluke Tester and OTDR reports) and prepare As-Built drawings for final handover to the consultant and client.
- Tier 3 Troubleshooting: Provide advanced technical support and resolve complex engineering or routing issues that arise during project execution.
- Technical Coordination: Attend technical meetings with the project consultant and client, and coordinate effectively with other engineering disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil).
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CCNA or CCNP are highly preferred.
- Network Architecture: Deep understanding of network protocols, routing, switching, and security frameworks (Firewalls, VLANs, VPNs).
- Engineering Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD for reviewing and modifying technical shop drawings.
- Testing Tools: Strong capability in analyzing data from network testing equipment (Fluke Tester, OTDR).
- Project Documentation: Excellence in drafting technical reports, As-Built documentation, and method statements.
- Office Tools: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for tracking quantities and project progress.
- Leadership & Team Management: Ability to lead, direct, and motivate site technicians and subcontractors.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot complex technical and logical network issues under pressure.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English to interface professionally with consultants and stakeholders.
- Time Management: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple project tasks and meet strict deadlines.
