Position Title: Chief Commercial & Business Development Officer Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Position Overview The Chief Commercial & Business Development Officer (CCBDO) is responsible for leading the organization’s commercial growth, revenue generation, market expansion, strategic partnerships, and business development initiatives. The role is critical in driving sustainable business growth, identifying new market opportunities, expanding strategic alliances, and maximizing profitability across all business units. The CCBDO will play a key leadership role in accelerating organizational performance, strengthening market positioning, building long-term partnerships, and leading commercial operations aligned with the company’s strategic objectives. This executive will act as a strategic growth leader by combining commercial excellence, relationship management, market intelligence, and operational execution to support the organization’s long-term expansion and profitability goals.
Key Responsibilities Commercial Strategy & Revenue Growth:Develop and execute the company’s commercial and growth strategy in alignment with corporate objectives. Lead all revenue-generating activities across commercial, sales, partnerships, and business development functions. Drive sustainable revenue growth, profitability, and market share expansion. Develop commercial models, pricing strategies, and revenue optimization initiatives. Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities, market trends, and high-growth sectors. Monitor commercial performance, pipeline development, and revenue forecasting. Ensure achievement of commercial KPIs and financial targets. Business Development & Market Expansion:Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities and strategic accounts. Expand the organization’s presence across new markets, sectors, and regions. Lead strategic negotiations, commercial agreements, and partnership discussions. Build strategic alliances, joint ventures, and long-term partnerships with key stakeholders. Explore mergers, acquisitions, and investment opportunities that support organizational growth. Drive client acquisition and retention strategies to maximize long-term business value. Strategic Partnerships & Stakeholder Management:Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, investors, government entities, and strategic partners. Represent the organization in high-level business meetings, negotiations, and industry forums. Develop partnership frameworks that support sustainable commercial growth. Strengthen customer engagement and enhance strategic account management initiatives. Collaborate closely with executive leadership to identify strategic growth opportunities. Commercial Operations & Performance Management:Oversee commercial operations to ensure efficiency, scalability, and profitability. Develop KPIs, dashboards, and reporting frameworks to monitor business performance. Analyze market intelligence, customer trends, and competitor activities to support strategic decision-making. Lead forecasting, budgeting, and revenue planning activities. Implement data-driven strategies to improve commercial effectiveness and operational performance. Ensure alignment between commercial objectives and operational capabilities. Leadership & Organizational Development:Build, lead, and mentor high-performing commercial and business development teams. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and performance excellence. Support leadership development, succession planning, and talent management initiatives. Drive cross-functional collaboration across departments to achieve organizational goals. Support the CEO and Board in strategic planning and business transformation initiatives. Governance, Risk & Compliance:Ensure commercial activities are aligned with governance standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Mitigate commercial and operational risks through proper controls and strategic planning. Ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance across all commercial activities.
Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field. MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is highly preferred. Professional certifications in Commercial Management, Strategy, Sales, or Business Development are considered an advantage.
Experience Requirements Minimum 15+ years of experience in commercial leadership, business development, sales, or strategic growth roles. Minimum 7+ years in executive or senior leadership positions. Proven track record in driving revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion. Strong experience in strategic partnerships, client acquisition, and commercial negotiations. Experience leading high-performing teams and large-scale commercial operations. Background in diversified sectors, investment environments, or high-growth organizations is highly preferred. GCC / Saudi Arabia market experience is strongly preferred.
