About the opportunity This is a founding leadership role. You will own the data center business end-to-end — from concept and site selection to standards, commercial agreements, and scaled operations. While the title is VP, the mandate is that of a CEO: you build the team, shape the strategy, win the clients, and deliver the business. We are launching a data center venture and are seeking a visionary executive to lead it from inception. This is not a hands-on construction or engineering role — it is a business-building role that requires a leader who deeply understands industry standards, can command the confidence of hyperscalers and enterprise clients, and can orchestrate internal teams and external partners to deliver at scale. What you will own Strategic vision: Define the roadmap for the data center business — market positioning, target verticals, geographic expansion, and service model Business development & sales: Lead origination, RFP responses, and deal closure with hyperscalers, cloud providers, enterprise tenants, and co-location clients Standards & compliance oversight: Set and enforce Tier standards (TIA-942), uptime commitments, PUE targets, and security frameworks across all facilities P&L ownership: Full accountability for revenue, EBITDA, capital deployment, and return on investment Team building: Recruit and lead heads of operations, engineering, sales, and finance — building a high-performance executive team under you Vendor & partner governance: Oversee MEP contractors, EPC firms, technology vendors, and utility providers through structured governance — not direct management Operations excellence: Define SLAs, uptime KPIs, and operational playbooks; hold the organization accountable to them Stakeholder management: Represent the business to the board, investors, regulators, and strategic partners What we're looking for — required15+ years of progressive experience in data center, critical infrastructure, or enterprise IT real estate Proven track record of leading a data center business or large-scale infrastructure program from early stage to operational maturity Deep knowledge of data center standards: TIA-942, Uptime Institute Tier classification, EN 50600, ASHRAE thermal guidelines, and power/cooling design principles Executive-level experience in business development and commercial deal structuring — with hyperscalers, co-lo tenants, or managed service clients Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and scale cross-functional teams Financial acumen: comfortable owning P&L, building investment cases, and engaging with investors or lenders Strong understanding of IT infrastructure: network topology, power architecture (UPS, generators, DRUPS), cooling systems (CRAC, liquid cooling, free cooling), and physical security Experience navigating regulatory, utility, and permitting environments in data center development What we're looking for — preferred
Existing relationships with hyperscalers (AWS, Google, Microsoft, Oracle) or large enterprise tenants Familiarity with DCIM platforms, BMS, and smart monitoring ecosystems Exposure to green data center design: renewable energy sourcing, WUE, carbon reporting MBA or advanced degree in engineering, business, or a related field
