The Opportunity



This position works out of Jeddah location in Abbott Rapid Diagnostics Toxicology.

Our rapid diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments, and informatics systems is often the first step in patient care decision-making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers. 




Job Responsibilities



• Reporting to the Regional Director of Global Products, this position will establish and achieve sales goals and objectives in specified markets and geographical territories in support of the Global Products overall strategic plan. 




• The Commercial Director will be responsible for the development, ownership and delivery of the commercial strategy across a complex mix of public and private sector customers in the Middle East and Africa. A key priority of this role will be to lead and manage the sales teams responsible for all areas of both existing and new business development and to lead on embedding Abbott’s commercial excellence into the Toxicology Business.





• Demonstrate clear leadership in driving revenue growth through successful teams. Plan, coordinate and manage the sales activities of the Commercial teams to achieve the sales goals of the Company and build revenue. 




• Train and develop the sales team to understand customer needs, to identify sales opportunities and to effectively represent the Company and its products & services in the marketplace as well as negotiating deals, pricing and customer contract terms to meet the revenue and margin goals of the BU.




• Effective management of the performance of the commercial team to meet individual, department and company sales goals and objectives.




•Drive Abbott’s commercial excellence standards across the team.




• Responsible for the transformation of the Commercial strategy in line with Global Products Toxicology strategy and financial expectations in terms of revenue, gross margin and divisional margin.




• Prepare and be accountable for the regional commercial budget.




Identify potential opportunities for the company’s products & services and secure business through those opportunities.




• Form and establish effective relationships with all colleagues providing strong leadership to the company, modelling the values and behaviors expected of a senior leader in a growing business.



• Establish, develop, and maintain the business and client relationship with key national and regional accounts.



• Direct the field implementation of Company sales, marketing, training, corporate account programs and other strategic initiatives.



• Responsible for contract negotiation, pricing, proposal, oversight of bid preparation, customer service and customer follow-up.




• Interact and communicate with associated operating departments as necessary to produce cohesive efforts to accomplish company commercial goals.




• Monitor market, customer and competitive trends and advise management on methods to improve company competitiveness in the market. 




• Provide regular sales reports, forecasts and communication with sales and marketing management.




• Participate in monthly/ quarterly business reviews with senior management and oversee regular territory business reviews with Sales team.




• Maintain a superior level of knowledge of the applications and technologies related to Company products to ensure accurate representation of the marketplace.




• Liaising, supporting and implementing Government Affairs strategy.




• Establish, develop and maintain business and client relationships with key international, national and regional accounts.




• Carry out duties in compliance with established business policies.




• Exhibit professional behaviors with both internal/external business associates that reflect positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices.




• Follow any other reasonable management request in line with the values of the company.




Required Qualifications



• Educated to degree levels in a relevant discipline and/or previous experience working as a Commercial Director at a senior level and/or experience in another senior level role.




Minimum Skills Required



• Commercially astute, articulate, technically strong, dynamic, insightful and influential leader with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.



• Exceptional communication skills at all levels with confident presentation skills.



• Experience of contract negotiation and management of contracts and commercial agreements with customers and suppliers.



• Tender management experience.



• Commercial management, claims and dispute resolution expertise.



• Experienced in staff mentoring, support and training as well as performance management.



• Lead and develop an accountable, effective and proactive team.



• Ability to build and maintain client relationships.



• Aptitude and interest to develop new business.



• Willingness to work within a close leadership team.
