Purpose Support the manager in fulfilling the purpose of the function and contributing to the development of the IKEA business within the assigned area of responsibility, including Production, IKEA Restaurant, Co-worker Restaurant, Swedish Food Market, IKEA Bistro, and IKEA Café. Ensure a welcoming atmosphere and deliver high-quality, appealing food offers that encourage customers to return and enhance the overall customer experience. Act as the person in charge during work shifts in the absence of the area manager, leading by example. This role does not include direct reports or responsibility for conducting development discussions. Spend at least 80% of working time on the floor, actively engaging with customers and co-workers by listening, supporting, and taking action to ensure smooth daily operations and a positive experience.
Accountabilities Customers Ensure customers are always in focus and deliver a positive, friendly experience that encourages repeat visits. Serve customers with empathy and care, demonstrating behaviors aligned with IKEA values. Act as a strong brand ambassador in all customer interactions. Regularly review the store from the customer’s perspective and engage in daily dialogue to gather feedback on their experience, needs, and expectations. Take immediate action based on customer feedback and support continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain strong knowledge of store services to effectively support customers. Ensure a consistently high-quality shopping experience throughout the day. Commercial Maintain awareness of the store business plan and IKEA Food action plans; support the manager in implementing actions within the assigned area. Ensure an attractive presentation and communication of the food range to create an appealing offer. Develop strong product knowledge, including content, origin, and benefits, and share insights with customers and colleagues. Monitor top-selling products (including 3 Aces and 1 King) to ensure availability, visibility, and clear communication. Support marketing and in-store activities in collaboration with the manager. Assist in implementing range changes in a simple and cost-conscious manner. Initiate commercial activities during low-traffic periods to increase customer engagement and productivity. Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing area at all times. Provide input to the manager based on local market knowledge regarding range and pricing. People Support the manager in ensuring co-workers understand the IKEA concept, guidelines, and their impact on daily roles. Lead by example and provide on-the-job coaching to support colleagues’ development and performance. Contribute to a positive work environment where IKEA culture and diversity are actively promoted. Collaborate with team members and cross-functional colleagues when required. Share knowledge and keep colleagues informed to enable effective performance. Steering the Business Contribute to overall store performance, growth, and operational success. Work towards agreed targets and take appropriate actions to achieve them. Promote a cost-conscious approach by working efficiently and encouraging smarter ways of working within the team. Operations Ensure compliance with IKEA Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures. Report food incidents or potential risks through CASY and escalate to the manager as required. Support a strong “safety first” culture by encouraging awareness and proactive communication. Ensure appropriate staffing levels and effective allocation of co-workers within the area. Identify and address operational bottlenecks to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction. Ensure all daily operational routines and tasks set by the manager are properly implemented.
Qualifications and Experiences Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field.5 years of experience in food service. Broad IKEA management experience or a proven track record in a high-volume or multi-unit retail or food service chain. Deep knowledge of management and leadership, including experience in conscious leadership aligned with IKEA values. Expertise in forecasting and demand planning. Specific Designations, Certifications, Licenses: HACCP, ISO 22000 FSMS. Fluency in English and strong communication skills
