Job Title: Tower Crane Operator Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Company: Horizons Contracting Company (HCC) Role Overview:We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Tower Crane Operator to operate tower cranes for the lifting and positioning of materials, equipment, and structural components on construction sites. The role is responsible for safely operating tower cranes, coordinating with site teams, conducting pre-operational inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and operational procedures. This position plays a critical role in supporting construction activities, maintaining project schedules, and ensuring safe lifting operations across building and infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities:Tower Crane Operations Operate tower cranes to lift, move, and position materials, equipment, prefabricated components, and structural elements on construction sites. Execute lifting operations in accordance with approved lifting plans, method statements, and load charts. Coordinate with riggers, signalmen, and site supervision to ensure safe and efficient lifting operations. Maintain precise control of crane movements including hoisting, lowering, slewing, and trolley operations. Respond to radio communications and hand signals from authorized signalmen during lifting operations. Pre-Operational Inspections & Maintenance Conduct daily pre-operational inspections of tower crane including structural components, wire ropes, hooks, brakes, controls, and safety devices. Check load indicators, limit switches, emergency stop systems, and warning devices before starting operations. Report any defects, malfunctions, or safety concerns to site supervision and maintenance teams immediately. Maintain crane logbooks, inspection checklists, and operational records. Coordinate with maintenance teams for scheduled servicing, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities. Safety & Compliance Ensure all lifting operations comply with Saudi Civil Defense regulations, OSHA standards, and company HSE policies. Adhere to maximum load limits, load charts, and operational restrictions at all times. Implement Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and safety protocols during crane operations. Monitor weather conditions including wind speed, visibility, and lightning, and cease operations when conditions exceed safe operating limits. Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and HSE training programs. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety harness when accessing crane cabin. Load Assessment & Planning Review lifting plans, load weights, and rigging configurations before executing lifting operations. Verify load weights against crane capacity and load charts to ensure safe lifting operations. Identify potential hazards including overhead power lines, adjacent structures, and ground conditions. Coordinate with project engineers and site supervision for complex or critical lifts. Communication & Coordination Maintain clear and effective communication with riggers, signalmen, site engineers, and construction teams via radio and hand signals. Coordinate lifting schedules with site supervision to support construction activities and project timelines. Report operational status, delays, and safety concerns to site management. Participate in site coordination meetings and pre-lift briefings. Emergency Response Respond to emergency situations including equipment malfunctions, adverse weather conditions, and site incidents. Execute emergency shutdown procedures and secure the crane in safe configuration. Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to HSE and site management immediately. Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate daily operational logs, inspection records, and lifting reports. Complete pre-operational checklists, defect reports, and maintenance request forms. Document lifting hours, fuel consumption, and equipment performance metrics. Support incident investigations and HSE audits with accurate documentation. Qualifications:Technical Diploma or Certificate in Heavy Equipment Operation or related field. Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory for safety communications and operational instructions. Proficiency in Arabic is preferred. Valid Tower Crane Operator License/Certification from a recognized authority (mandatory). Minimum 3–5 years of experience operating tower cranes on building construction or infrastructure projects. Experience operating various tower crane models including luffing jib and hammerhead cranes. Strong knowledge of load charts, lifting capacities, and operational limitations. Familiarity with Saudi Civil Defense regulations, OSHA standards, and construction safety requirements. Valid medical fitness certificate for crane operation. Clean safety record with no major incidents or violations.
