Job Summary The Mechanic Technician is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on heavy waste management trucks to ensure fleet reliability, safety, and operational efficiency. The role requires strong technical knowledge of automotive systems, experience with preventive maintenance programs for heavy-duty trucks, and the ability to support troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic systems used in waste management equipment.
Key Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance (PM) services on heavy waste management trucks according to the approved fleet maintenance schedule. Carry out corrective maintenance and repairs when mechanical failures or system faults occur. Diagnose and repair issues related to engine, transmission, braking, steering, suspension, and electrical systems of heavy trucks. Support maintenance and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems used in compactor trucks and waste handling equipment. Conduct regular inspections and condition checks to identify potential failures and prevent breakdowns. Ensure all preventive and corrective maintenance activities are completed in line with manufacturer recommendations and company maintenance procedures. Record maintenance work, inspections, and repairs in the ERP or fleet management system when required. Perform operational tests and final inspections after maintenance or repair work. Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and organized condition. Coordinate with the Workshop Supervisor regarding technical issues, spare parts requirements, and maintenance planning. Follow HSE regulations, company safety policies, and operational procedures at all times.
Qualifications Diploma or Technical Certification in Automotive Mechanics, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, or related field. Minimum 3–5 years of experience in heavy truck maintenance. Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance programs for heavy-duty vehicles. Good knowledge of automotive mechanical and electrical systems. Basic understanding or willingness to learn hydraulic systems used in waste management trucks. Familiarity with fleet maintenance software or ERP systems is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of preventive maintenance systems for heavy truck fleets. Ability to work in project-based environments. Good understanding of workshop safety practices and procedures. Ability to work independently and within a team.
Experience Experience with waste management trucks (compactors, hook loaders, skip loaders). Experience working in Saudi Arabia or GCC projects. Basic experience with hydraulic repair and maintenance.
