As a Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing the commissioning of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and TSE pipeline to ensure that all systems and processes operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with design specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable regulatory standards. The role requires close coordination with design, construction, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams, as well as effective engagement with project stakeholders.
In your capacity as a Commissioning Engineer, you will lead pre commissioning and commissioning activities, including inspections, testing, start up, performance trials, and final handover of the STP. You will ensure that treatment processes consistently achieve the required effluent quality and that full operational readiness is established prior to final acceptance. Additionally, you will be responsible for achieving timely completion of project milestones within the approved budget and for providing regular progress updates to relevant stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
General:
- Plan and manage pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and start‑up activities for STP systems and TSE pipeline.
- Supervise EPC Contractor’s team during process commissioning of the complete sewage treatment plant.
- Oversee and verify installation completion and readiness of civil, mechanical, electrical, and I&C systems.
- Coordinate testing of equipment such as pumps, blowers, screens, clarifiers, biological reactors (Nereda), filters, disinfection systems, sludge systems and odour control systems and TSE pipeline.
- Lead process commissioning, including biological (Nereda based) seeding, stabilization, and optimization.
- Monitor plant performance to ensure treated effluent meets statutory and contract requirements.
- Review commissioning procedures, method statements, and test protocols.
- Troubleshoot operational and process issues during start‑up and trial runs.
- Coordinate with EPC Contractor and OEMs for equipment commissioning and performance testing.
- Oversee compliance with HSE requirements during commissioning activities.
- Prepare/Review and submit commissioning reports, performance test results, and handover documentation.
- Support training of client’s operations and maintenance (O&M) staff.
- Assist in final acceptance, defect liability support, and transition to O&M phase.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders and share progress report regularly
- Ensure the timely completion of commissioning milestones within the allocated budget.
- Regularly report on project progress to the relevant stakeholders.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise the EPC Contractor’s site team during commissioning.
- Participate in site meetings, and other project-related meetings as required.
- Offer guidance, training, and mentorship.
- Cultivate a culture of safety and professionalism within the team.
Quality Assurance:
- Establish and maintain robust quality control procedures for commissioning work.
- Ensure adherence of Project Quality standard during commissioning phase
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure that commissioning activities are executed in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensure adherence of Safety regulations/compliance during testing and commissioning
- Investigate and report any safety incidents or near misses.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in STP / wastewater treatment plant commissioning and startup; strong experience in commissioning Nereda® SBR systems will be considered a significant advantage.
- > 10 years of relevant experience in process, mechanical, instrumentation, or commissioning roles, with a primary focus on wastewater and sewage treatment projects.
- In‑depth knowledge of local environmental regulations, discharge standards, and statutory compliance requirements.
