Senior ITS Engineer will be responsible for planning, reviewing, managing, and supervising all Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) activities for a PMC infrastructure project involving roads, bridges, and tunnels. The role ensures that ITS designs, installations, testing, and operations comply with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements to enhance traffic safety, efficiency, and system reliability.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve ITS designs, drawings, specifications, and method statements submitted by contractors.


• Ensure ITS systems are fully coordinated with civil, electrical, mechanical, and traffic engineering disciplines.


• Verify compliance with international standards (ITS, IEC, IEEE, EN) and local authority requirements.


• Oversee implementation of traffic management systems including CCTV, VMS, ATMS, incident detection, traffic counters, and speed enforcement systems.


• Review network architecture, communication systems (fiber optics, wireless), and control center integration.


• Ensure proper system redundancy, cybersecurity, and scalability.


• Review and supervise ITS components for bridges including structural health monitoring systems (SHMS), surveillance systems, traffic sensors, and communication networks.


• Ensure integration of bridge ITS systems with central traffic control centers.


• Review and approve ITS systems for tunnels including tunnel management systems (TMS), CCTV, automatic incident detection, lane control signals, VMS, emergency telephones, and public address systems


• Coordinate ITS with tunnel safety systems such as fire detection, SCADA, ventilation, lighting, and emergency response systems.


• Ensure compliance with international tunnel safety standards and best practices.


• Supervise factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), integration testing, and system commissioning.


• Review test procedures, results, and resolve technical issues prior to system handover.


• Ensure smooth transition to operations and maintenance teams.


• Liaise with contractors, system integrators, suppliers, authorities, and the client.


• Provide expert technical advice and resolve ITS-related technical challenges


• Attend technical meetings, inspections, and progress reviews.


• Review and approve ITS manuals including operation, maintenance, and training documentation.


• Prepare periodic reports on ITS progress, risks, and system performance.


• Support audits, authority approvals, and client reviews.

Requirements:

• Minimum 15 years of experience in ITS engineering for major infrastructure projects.


• Proven PMC or consultancy experience on roads, bridges, and tunnel projects.


• Strong knowledge of traffic management systems, tunnel ITS, and control centers.


• Experience with system integration, communication networks, and SCADA interfaces.


• Familiarity with international ITS and tunnel safety standards.


• Excellent coordination, communication, and technical reporting skills.


• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex interfaces.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).


• Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
