Job Title: Construction Director– Project
Role Purpose:Oversees and supports construction managers, section engineers and supervises construction execution on-site. Coordinates with the project management team to ensure timely, cost-effective, and safe delivery of project phases in compliance with contract requirements and company procedures.
Key Accountabilities & Key Activities:
Project Execution Oversight:• Supervise all site activities and ensure proper execution as per plan. • Follow up with subcontractors and internal teams for progress and compliance. • Monitor site safety and ensure HSE compliance. • Coordinate and ensure timely execution based on drawings, materials, and manpower.
Coordination and Planning: • Assist PD/PM in preparation of execution plans, programs, and resource allocation. • Ensure shop drawings and materials are available ahead of need. • Maintain look-ahead schedules and monitor progress against baseline programs.
Team & Subcontractor Management: • Supervise Section Engineers, Site Engineers, and Foremen. • Evaluate team and subcontractor performance; recommend improvements or actions. • Participate in progress meetings and ensure work is aligned with goals. • Monitoring and controlling resources
Communication and Reporting:• Keep accurate site records and diaries. • Liaise with Chief Quantity Surveyor for valuations and claims. • Report deviations and challenges to PD/PM. • Coordinate plant/equipment requirements with the BEMO Manager.
Necessary Knowledge and Experience: • Minimum 18 years of construction site experience, with at least 3 years’ experience in mega projects in similar position. • Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, safety regulations, and project controls · Experience managing subcontractors and suppliers and project timelines under complex conditions
Education and Certification Minimum Requirements: • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field • Master’s degree, PMP, NEBOSH, or equivalent certifications preferred
Job Specific Technical Skills: • Basic Project scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project) • Very good knowledge of MS Office • Understanding of QESH systems (Quality, Environment, Safety, Health) • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications • Leadership, team coordination, and reporting skills • Problem solving skills • Very good communication skills
