Project Overview

Nicholas O Dwyer is providing Technical Assistance and Supervision services for a key water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the Gaziantep, Ad yaman, and Kilis provinces in Turkey. The programme includes the design, construction supervision, and operational planning of drinking water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and network rehabilitation. The work places a strong emphasis on sustainability, institutional capacity building, and resilience.

About the Role

Nicholas O'Dwyer is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer to support the supervision of construction activities for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Working under the direction of the Senior Resident Engineer, the role involves quality monitoring, documentation, and liaison with contractors to ensure that works are completed in line with design and contract specifications.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• As an Assistant Resident Engineer, working in collaboration as part of a larger team is essential for this role.
• Assist the Senior Resident Engineer in daily supervision of works, including site inspections and compliance monitoring.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to quality, health & safety, and environmental standards.
• Maintain site diaries, prepare progress reports, and assist in issuing site instructions under the guidance of the Senior RE.
• Participate in construction meetings and liaise with contractors to resolve technical issues.
• Assist in measurement and verification of completed works for interim and final payments.
• Support the implementation of FIDIC contract requirements and EU PRAG procedures.
• Maintaining a culture of continuous improvements across all aspects of the working environment and projects.
• To ensure maximum flexibility and to reflect the Company's evolving needs, additional tasks and responsibilities will form part of this role as it evolves.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

• A 3rd level degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering is required.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in site supervision or construction monitoring of water or wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with FIDIC contract conditions and technical site reporting.
• Strong observational, communication, and documentation skills.
• Proven ability and interest to support senior team members in a site-based role.
• Competent in office packages, Microsoft, excel PowerPoint etc.
• Good time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work and manage many tasks concurrently.
• Excellent clear and concise communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team.
