Summary
Observes, monitors, and evaluates procedures and measurement techniques in own area of expertise, including analysis, result interpretation, and validation for diagnosis of disease/injury. Works effectively with patient and patient's family and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Observes and monitors catheterization procedures for normal/abnormal patterns. Uses knowledge to evaluate results observed and immediately informs the Cardiologist of any ECG or pressure changes.
- Makes preliminary analysis and hemodynamic interpretation for the Cardiologist's further study and diagnosis.
- Records all findings and incorporates these into patient's medical record/system database
- Carries out all catheterization procedures under direction of Cardiologist, and assists with scrub duties and positions radiographic equipment correctly.
- Analyses and assesses temporary and permanent pacemaker lead(s) and programs pacemaker devices
- Ensures that clinical equipment is safe and functional and performs routine equipment maintenance, and Informs Senior Cardiovascular Technologist of safety hazards or need for repair/maintenance.
- Ensures adequate level of supplies and materials for uninterrupted patient care. Informs Senior Cardiovascular Technologist of reduction in supply inventory or supplies concern.
- Assists in the training, education, and supervision of students, fellows and new staff members and the evaluation of their performance.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient, and ensures patient safety and attends to their needs and comfort in the Cath Lab.
- Assists with research projects, program development, data collection, and other projects, and participates in departmental quality control and quality improvement programs.
- Complies with the section policies, procedures and protocols. Establish a continues quality improvement program in accordance with CBAHI, JCI, SFDA and other accreditation agencies standards.
- Complies with Radiation safety rules and regulation of the hospital and in accordance with KACST and K.A. CARE and other national or international regulation bodies
- Applies and ensures compliance with ALARA principle role for all procedure involving radiation exposure.
- Follows all Hospital’s related policies and procedures.
- Participates in self and others’ research, education,training, and development, as applicable.
- Performs other related duties, as required.
Education
Bachelor’s or Associate Degree /Diploma in Cardiovascular Technology, Health Science,Cardiac Ultrasound, or other related discipline is required.
Experience Required
Grade 08:
Two (2) years of related experience withBachelor’s, or four (4) years with Associate Degree/Diploma is required.
Grade 09:
- Four (4) years as Cardiovascular Technologist, Invasive at KFSHRC,or (Grade 08) related experience is required.
- Average of annual performance appraisal at least (3.5) for the lastfour (4) years.
- Fifty (50) hours of cumulative continuedmedical education [CME].
Other Requirements(Certificates)
*Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.
*Certificate in Basic Cardiac Life Support(BCLS) is required.
