Responsibilities:
- Take full technical ownership of the Landscape package, ensuring successful design coordination, review, and delivery of all landscape-related works across all project stages (concept, schematic, detailed design, and IFC).
- Lead the development and coordination of landscape engineering works, ensuring compliance with project requirements, engineering standards, local regulations, and client guidelines.
- Act as the primary focal point between the Design Manager and the Landscape Design Consultant, managing all landscape-related design submissions and technical coordination.
- Coordinate, review, and evaluate submissions from the Design Consultant, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements, as well as implementation feasibility.
- Identify and evaluate Value Engineering opportunities related to landscape systems, materials, and construction methodologies.
- Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, maintaining alignment with client expectations and project goals.
- Conduct technical analyses and prepare engineering documentation and reports, supporting design decisions and project approvals.
- Review and approve landscape design drawings, specifications, and technical submissions, providing guidance to design engineers and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate landscape design with other engineering disciplines, including geotechnical, environmental, roads, traffic, utilities, drainage, and infrastructure teams to achieve fully integrated design solutions.
- Monitor design progress and performance, identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure timely project delivery.
- Manage and resolve landscape-related technical queries, design issues, and coordination challenges throughout the design process.
- Participate in site visits and inspections, assessing construction progress and quality, and providing technical recommendations to ensure compliance with approved design and specifications.
Skills
Qualifications & Education:
Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Landscape Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, or related field from an accredited university.
In-depth knowledge of the Green Riyadh Program requirements. Prior experience with projects under RCRC (Royal Commission for Riyadh City) is highly preferred.
Experience Requirements:
Minimum 15 years of professional experience in landscape and irrigation engineering.
Demonstrated involvement in large-scale landscape infrastructure projects, including urban landscape and public realm developments.
Participation in major government or giga projects in Saudi Arabia (e.g., Green Riyadh, Diriyah) is highly preferred.
Technical Experience: strong technical knowledge of
- Landscape design and construction (hardscape & softscape)
- Irrigation systems design and implementation
- Pump stations and hydraulic irrigation networks
- Smart and automated irrigation systems
- Water management and recycled water irrigation networks
- Landscape drainage systems
- Horticulture and plant supply coordination
Managerial Experience: At least 5 years in a Landscape Chief Engineer or Manager role.
Regional Experience: Previous experience in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East is a significant advantage.
Skills & Competencies:
Languages
Excellent command of English (written and spoken). Proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
Landscape Technical Expertise
Strong expertise in landscape engineering and design, including hardscape and softscape systems, irrigation networks, landscape drainage, and urban public realm development. Solid understanding of plant selection, horticulture, and landscape sustainability strategies suitable for arid climates.
Irrigation & Water Management
Strong knowledge of irrigation systems design and operation, including pump stations, hydraulic irrigation networks, smart irrigation systems, and water demand management.
Landscape Coordination
Extensive experience coordinating landscape design with infrastructure disciplines including roads, bridges, utilities, drainage, traffic, and urban design to deliver fully integrated solutions.
Software & Digital Tools
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D. Experience with BIM methodologies and design coordination tools is a strong advantage.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Strong leadership and organizational skills with experience managing consultants, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and communicating with clients and project stakeholders.
Communication & Professional Skills
Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to present technical solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
