Job Title: Estimation Engineer
Location: Saudi Arabia
Position Overview
The Estimation Engineer will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, tender submissions, and technical proposals for engineering and construction projects. The role requires strong analytical capability, technical understanding of project specifications, and the ability to evaluate drawings, BOQs, and project documentation to determine project costs and profitability.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate attention to detail, commercial awareness, and coordination skills to work closely with engineering, procurement, and project teams to ensure competitive and compliant bid submissions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tendering & Cost Estimation
Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
Prepare detailed cost estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, subcontracting, and overheads.
Analyze project scope and identify cost risks and opportunities.
Conduct quantity take-offs from drawings and technical documents.
Prepare rate analysis and pricing breakdowns.
2. Technical Evaluation
Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications accurately.
Coordinate with design, procurement, and project teams for technical clarifications.
Evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations to ensure cost-effectiveness.
Ensure compliance with project requirements, standards, and local Saudi regulations.
3. Commercial & Proposal Management
Prepare technical and commercial bid proposals.
Assist in preparing tender submission documents within deadlines.
Participate in bid meetings, clarifications, and negotiations when required.
Maintain estimation databases and historical cost records.
4. Risk & Cost Control
Identify potential risks during estimation and suggest mitigation strategies.
Support cost control during project execution if required.
Provide budgetary estimates for feasibility studies and project planning.
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
3–8 years of experience in estimation and tendering within construction, infrastructure, MEP, oil & gas, or industrial projects.
Experience working on projects in the Middle East (preferably Saudi Arabia) is an advantage.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of cost estimation principles and tendering processes.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office tools.
Experience in estimation software (Primavera, Candy, PlanSwift, CostX, or similar tools preferred).
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Commercial awareness and negotiation ability.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Ability to work under tight deadlines.
