Job Summary
The Design & Estimation Lead – Fire Protection Projects is responsible for leading the design, technical coordination, cost estimation, and bid preparation for fire protection systems including fire alarm, sprinkler, suppression, and firefighting systems. This role ensures compliance with applicable codes and standards such as National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), International Code Council (ICC), and relevant local civil defense regulations.
The position plays a key role in project acquisition, technical accuracy, cost optimization, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities 1. Design Leadership
- Lead the design and engineering of fire protection systems:
- Fire Alarm Systems
- Fire Sprinkler Systems
- Clean Agent & Gas Suppression Systems
- Foam & Deluge Systems
- Fire Pumps & Hydrant Systems
- Review and approve design drawings, hydraulic calculations, and technical submittals.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 13, NFPA 20, NFPA 72, etc.) and local authority requirements.
- Coordinate with MEP, architectural, and structural teams.
2. Estimation & Tendering
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, BOQs, and tender documentation.
- Perform quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications.
- Analyze vendor and subcontractor quotations.
- Identify risks and cost optimization opportunities.
- Lead technical clarifications and pre-bid meetings.
3. Technical & Commercial Coordination
- Provide technical support to the sales and project execution teams.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations.
- Develop value engineering proposals.
- Review contracts and technical specifications.
4. Compliance & Quality
- Ensure all designs meet local Civil Defense approval requirements.
- Maintain documentation for audits and regulatory compliance.
- Implement internal quality control processes.
5. Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor design engineers and estimators.
- Allocate workloads and manage deadlines.
- Support training and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 8–12 years of experience in fire protection design and estimation.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA codes and local authority regulations.
- Experience in commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, hydraulic calculation software, and MS Office.
- Knowledge of BIM/Revit is an advantage.
