Job Description
We are seeking a Durability Test Lab Engineer to support the planning, commissioning, and operation of durability test rigs and laboratory test programs. The role includes designing test hardware, assembling and running test rigs, monitoring tests through data acquisition, and producing detailed technical reports. You will also support continuous improvement and compliance with relevant standards.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and commission test rig installations, coordinating design teams, equipment, and processes to deliver robust testing solutions
Produce detailed test hardware designs including adaptor plates and complete test rig assemblies
Develop and review risk assessments to ensure safe and compliant test operations
Assemble test rigs, monitor operations via data acquisition systems, and conduct product inspections at defined test intervals
Compile final test reports summarizing test programs, data, conclusions, and recommendations
Train/mentor colleagues and provide day-to-day technical support
Support compliance with relevant standards and management systems (e.g., ISO 14001 / ISO 45001)
Contribute to development of the test facility into a center of excellence
Use test monitoring and data tools (e.g., nCode, Vector/ETAS)
Utilize instrumentation and data capture equipment (thermocouples, wheel-force transducers, accelerometers, LVDTs, load cells)
Analyze test data and communicate findings; liaise with cross-functional teams to resolve test issues
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering
Minimum 5+ years of experience in a durability test laboratory environment
Hands-on experience with MTS test systems and durability testing (axle/system)
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and create test hardware models using CAD
Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and calculations
Strong communication skills, proactive mindset, attention to detail, analytical approach, and ability to multitask
