Summary

Responsible for all of the administrative duties to ensure optimal Dental Laboratory operations.



Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1. Performs direct supervision, planning and advising to Dental Laboratory Technologists/staff and ancillary personnel including scheduling, directing and monitoring the daily activities, and ensuring adherence to Hospital standards and policies.



2. Ensures adequate staffing/ recruiting, evaluates and counsels employees regarding performance.



3. Ensures the Dental laboratory meets all accreditation and certification requirements and complies with all applicable policies, procedures and standards of the Hospital.



4. Coordinates activities of workers in dental laboratory engaged in making repairing full or partial dentures, crowns, Implants, and bridgework.



5. Participates in establishing standards for the designed fabrication of prosthodontic appliances, and conducts quality assurance reviews.



6. Receives and signs off all Dental Laboratory purchases and ensures that all equipment is properly tagged and tested prior to use. Oversee proper maintenance of equipment and work areas.



7. Maintains liaison with the dental assistants and ancillary staff on matters related to work requests and time schedules for laboratory services.



8. Prepares and maintains Dental Lab Budget. Prepares periodic reports and ensures that records are properly maintained.



9. Attends dental staff meetings and/or other Hospital staff meetings as may be assigned/required. Informs Dental Laboratory personnel of any additions or changes in the Hospital or Clinic policy.



10. Consults with staff dentists regarding design, set-up fittings and quality of prosthodontic devices produced by the Dental Laboratory Services. May train Dental Laboratory employees in areas other than their specialization.



11. Provides technical planning and advisory to the Dental Clinicians and Dental Laboratory staff in the Dental Digital and CAD CAM solutions and Dental Implant production.



12. In conjunction with the Chairman of the Department of Dentistry, establishes standards for the designed fabrication of prosthodontic appliances, and conducts quality assurance reviews.



13. Dedicates time to participate in clinical/technical duties.



14. Participates in Hospital wide performance improvement activities.



Education

Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Technology is required.



Experience Required

Eight (8) years of Dental Laboratory experience including three (3) years at KFSH-Dental Laboratory and three (3) years in supervisory capacity with Master’s or ten (10) years of with Bachelor’s Degree is required.



Other Requirements(Certificates)

-Solid experience in building Crowns and Bridges and Implants in Ceramics and Acrylics, with great form and color, CAD CAM Skills, and exceptional manual dexterity, strong technical, supervisory skill.



-Certification by the National Board for certification (US or Canada) in lieu of: Dentures, Partials, Crown & Bridge, Ceramics and Orthodontics.
