· Develop creative design concepts, space plans, and layouts that optimize functionality, flow, and storage.
· Select materials, finishes, hardware, and integrated appliances.
· Present design proposals, including mood boards, sketches, and 3D visualizations.
· Technical Design & Modeling:
· Create detailed technical drawings, construction documents, and architectural plans using software such as SketchUp
· Develop precise shop drawings with all dimensions, joinery details, and specifications for manufacturing.
· Manufacturing & Project Coordination:
· Serve as the critical link between design, the manufacturing workshop, and installation teams.
· Possess a strong understanding of cabinetmaking principles, materials (solid wood, sheet goods, laminates), hardware (hinges, runners, lifts), and production techniques.
· Review shop drawings for manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and design integrity.
· Specify materials and components, ensuring they meet design, quality, and budget requirements.
· Oversee the project timeline, coordinate with installers, and conduct final site inspections to ensure design execution matches the vision.
Skills
Required Skills & Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field.
· 3+ years of professional experience with a proven portfolio showcasing custom closet, kitchen, and residential millwork projects.
· Software Proficiency: Expert in CAD software and 3D modeling/rendering software (e.g., SketchUp Pro, Revit, ).
· Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of construction methods, building codes related to kitchens, ergonomic standards, and the manufacturing workflow of custom cabinetry.
· Material & Hardware Expertise: Knowledge of materials (wood, lacquer, metals, composites) and specialized hardware for storage solutions (e.g., pull-outs, dividers, lighting systems).
· Excellent communication, presentation, and client management skills.
· Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
