Job Overview
The Senior Cost Control Engineer is responsible for planning, monitoring, analyzing, and controlling project costs to ensure financial efficiency and compliance with approved budgets. The role involves close coordination with project management, engineering, procurement, and finance teams to support accurate cost forecasting, reporting, and decision-making in construction, infrastructure, and industrial projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain project budgets, cost plans, and cost breakdown structures (CBS/WBS).
Monitor project expenditures and ensure alignment with approved budgets.
Prepare and analyze cost reports, variance reports, and cash flow forecasts.
Track project commitments, invoices, and payments in coordination with finance teams.
Evaluate cost variations, change orders, and claims, and recommend corrective actions.
Perform cost estimation and budgeting for new projects and variations.
Review subcontractor and supplier quotations, invoices, and payment certificates.
Support project managers in financial planning and cost optimization strategies.
Ensure compliance with contractual, commercial, and company financial procedures.
Maintain accurate cost records, documentation, and audit trails.
Assist in project close-out activities, including final accounts and financial reconciliation.
Provide management with timely financial insights and performance indicators.
Essential QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline.
Professional certifications in Cost Engineering / Project Controls (preferred).
Minimum 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in cost control and project controls.
Experience in construction, oil & gas, infrastructure, or industrial projects is preferred.
Prior experience working in Saudi Arabia or GCC projects is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies RequiredStrong knowledge of cost control systems, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Office, and cost management software (Primavera P6, SAP, Oracle, etc.).
Excellent analytical, numerical, and reporting skills.
Ability to interpret contracts, BOQs, and commercial documents.
Strong coordination and communication skills with multidisciplinary teams.
High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple project deadlines.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
