JOB PURPOSE


BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The Systems Engineering Manager – General Systems is responsible to the Head of Engineering Trials & Integration for providing functional assistance and support to the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) DoAE Engineering Authority (EA) Section Manager. They will be responsible for providing support, guidance and assistance to the RSAF in the development and exploitation of the RSAF EA capability.


JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES


·Maintain an awareness of the BAE Systems Saudi Arabia Engineering best practice and share this with the RSAF Directorate of Aeronautical Engineering.


·Provide guidance and support to the RSAF EA in developing an indigenous capability for undertaking systems engineering, specifically in aircraft and support system changes and integration.


·Provide guidance and assistance in the definition, planning and review of the qualification & certification activities to be undertaken by the RSAF EA in support of RSAF aircraft systems service modifications.


·Provide guidance and assistance to the RSAF EA in the development of Hazard Analysis and Safety Cases prior to undertaking any activity.


·Assist the RSAF EA with the identification and development of supporting evidence required to achieve the required levels of confidence for system changes.


·Assist the RSAF EA with system safety related incidents/accidents investigations and assist with the evaluation and provide recommendations on defect and incident reports for BAE Systems platforms.


·Maintain working relationships with other RSAF Directorates, BAE Systems Saudi Arabia deployed engineering resource at RSAF Bases, Platform project teams, MODSAP and functional/networking links to BAE Systems Business Units.


·Support and assist the RSAF in the generation of systems integration plans and procedures for changes to existing systems to improve safety, reliability, maintainability or performance.


·Provide support and assistance in reviewing Industry trials/integration plans for suitability and acceptance prior to providing recommendation to the RSAF signatory.


·Assist in the development of system trials, integration and testing procedures and documentation to verify performance to specification requirements.


·Assist in the acceptance testing of aircraft systems and equipment modifications/upgrades.


·Provide support to RSAF Officers at meetings and training both informal and in a formal classroom situation.


RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION


·Educated to Degree level in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Electronics or provide evidence of suitable systems management experience.


·Master’s Degree or Chartered Engineer status desirable.


·Proven Aircraft and Support System experience within an aircraft engineering organisation at a similar level.


·Expert knowledge of aircraft system certification requirements and regulations.


·Extensive experience in trials and integration activities.


·Proven experience of working within or in dealing with equipment Engineering and/or Design Authorities.


·Proficient in implementing Engineering change through recognised engineering change management processes.


·Knowledge of Aircraft Drawings.


·General knowledge of aircraft engines.


·Proven change management experience.


·Strong leadership qualities and fortitude, with ability to communicate at all organisational levels and establishing dependable relationships with all stakeholders.


·Ability to promote a culture of continuous development and improvement.


·Ability to facilitate, mediate and influence in diverse military and civilian cultures.


·A detailed/working knowledge of BAE Systems aircraft (Typhoon/Tornado/Hawk) platforms and systems (General Systems / Flight Systems) is desirable


·A detailed/working knowledge of BAE Systems AGE (Typhoon/Tornado/Hawk) systems is desirable


SPECIALIST SKILLS REQUIRED:


·Experienced in aircraft airworthiness management systems and assessing safety issues in order to develop and implement mitigating actions, modifications or workarounds.


·Knowledge of the RSAF Organisation and Regulations.


·A good awareness of RSAF programmes, Suppliers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), Government to Government Standard Agencies, International Standards Agencies and academic/research establishments.


·A detailed knowledge of regulation & policy governing Military / Civil Aviation.


·Proven experience working within or working with an Engineering Authority, either civil or military.


·Working knowledge of Export Control legislation.


·Knowledge of systems engineering and software design applications (CORE, Rational Rose, Rhapsody, etc.) is desirable.
