Job Overview
The Telecom Engineer is responsible for planning, installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting telecommunication systems and networks to ensure reliable voice, data, and video communication services. The role involves supporting telecom infrastructure projects, ensuring system performance, compliance with safety standards, and smooth coordination with internal teams and clients.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, install, configure, and maintain telecom systems including fiber optics, IP networks, wireless systems, and transmission equipment.
Monitor network performance and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
Troubleshoot faults, outages, and technical issues to minimize downtime.
Conduct site surveys, system testing, commissioning, and acceptance procedures.
Prepare technical drawings, layouts, reports, and documentation.
Coordinate with project managers, vendors, contractors, and clients for project execution.
Ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and safety procedures.
Support upgrades, expansions, and modernization of telecom infrastructure.
Maintain inventory of telecom equipment, tools, and spare parts.
Provide technical support and training to junior engineers and technicians.
Essential QualificationsDiploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or related field.
Certification in networking, fiber optics, or telecom systems (preferred).
Minimum 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in telecom projects, operations, or maintenance.
Experience in handling telecom infrastructure in industrial, commercial, or infrastructure projects is an advantage.
Required Skills & CompetenciesStrong knowledge of telecom systems, IP networking, fiber optic networks, and wireless communication.
Proficiency in testing instruments such as OTDR, spectrum analyzers, and network testers.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and network layouts.
Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and basic network management tools.
Strong communication and coordination skills.
Ability to work independently and under project deadlines.
Good documentation and reporting skills.
