We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sushi Chef to join our culinary team in Saudi Arabia.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare and plate a variety of sushi, sashimi, maki rolls, nigiri, and other Japanese dishes according to standardized recipes and plating specifications.
  • Maintain the highest standards of freshness, quality, and presentation for all seafood and ingredients.
  • Craft creative and seasonal sushi offerings in alignment with the menu and guest preferences.
  • Ensure proper knife work, portioning, and portion control for all products.
  • Monitor and manage inventory, receive and store seafood and perishable items safely, and assist with ordering as needed.
  • Adhere to food safety, sanitation, and HACCP protocols; maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house and kitchen teams to ensure timely execution during service, including special requests and dietary considerations.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff or trainees on sushi techniques, presentation, and safety practices.
  • Assist in menu development, seasonal tastings, and quality control checks to ensure consistency across all outlets.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

  • University degree (Bachelor’s) or equivalent education; a diploma in Culinary Arts or Sushi/Fish preparation is advantageous.
  • Minimum level of experience: Internship or trainee in a professional kitchen with a focus on sushi preparation; strong willingness to learn and develop specialized skills.
  • Proven knowledge of seafood handling, sushi rice preparation, and traditional to modern sushi techniques.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage time efficiently, and maintain composure during peak service hours.
  • Basic understanding of food safety standards and HACCP guidelines, and willingness to obtain any required local certifications.
  • Good communication skills in English; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Saudi Arabia and willingness to relocate to the selected region.
