Job Title: Field Electrical Engineer – Substation Power Solutions (UPS & DC Systems)

Location: Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (with extensive KSA-wide travel)
Employment Type: Full-time, Field-based

Critical Requirement: Mobility & Driving

  • Mandatory: Must possess a valid  Driving License.
  • Travel Expectation: This is a high-mobility role. You will be required to drive long distances to remote substation sites and spend up to 70% of your time traveling outside of Jeddah to various regions across the Kingdom.

Job Purpose

To lead the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical DC power plants and UPS systems within High Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) substations. 

You will be the technical lead ensuring that protection and control systems never lose power during grid disturbances.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Operations: Drive to various substation locations to perform commissioning, Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and routine health checks on battery banks and rectifiers.
  • Emergency Response: Provide rapid on-site troubleshooting for UPS failures or DC ground faults at critical infrastructure nodes across the KSA grid.
  • Substation DC Systems: Manage the lifecycle of 48/110V/220V DC systems, including battery sizing, charger calibration, and load testing for NiCd and Lead-Acid banks.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed site visit reports, root cause analysis (RCA) for power failures, and "as-built" drawing updates while in the field.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all field activities adhere to Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) safety standards and Work Permit systems.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum Years of Experiences: 5 years.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Specialization in Industrial UPS (3-phase) and DC Power Systems for Substations.
    • Practical experience with battery discharge testing and impedance measurements.
    • Familiarity with substation secondary equipment (relays, BCUs, and SCADA gateways).
  • Physical & Logistical:
    • Ability to work in outdoor environments and remote desert locations.
    • Proven track record of safe driving and navigating KSA's regional road networks.
