1. Job Purpose
Plant Workshop Tyre Man will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of tyres used in plant workshop equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operations. This role demands technical knowledge of tyre fitting, alignment, and repair procedures, combined with a strong commitment to safety and preventive maintenance.
2. Key Accountabilities
Tyre Maintenance & Repair:Inspect tyres for wear, damage, and proper inflation across plant workshop vehicles and equipment (RS, ECH, ITV, etc.). Remove, repair, and replace tyres, including tubeless and solid tyres. Perform vulcanizing, patching, and retreading procedures when applicable. Balance and align wheels to manufacturer specifications. Preventive Maintenance:Conduct scheduled tyre maintenance checks to minimize breakdowns and extend tyre life. Keep records of tyre usage, rotation schedules, and replacement history. Troubleshooting & Emergency Response:Respond to tyre-related breakdowns and carry out repairs promptly. Diagnose root causes of tyre damage (overloading, misalignment, improper inflation) and implement corrective actions.
Safety Compliance:Follow tyre handling safety standards and use proper tools and lifting equipment. Enforce DPWorld safety guidelines during tyre fitting, inflation, and repair activities. Collaboration:Work closely with workshop mechanical and electrical teams to ensure equipment downtime is minimized. Provide input on tyre specifications and procurement for plant vehicles. Documentation:Maintain accurate logs of tyre inspections, replacements, and maintenance activities. Report recurring tyre issues and recommend solutions to improve reliability.
3. Qualifications, Experience and Skills
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in tyre fitting/repair preferred.3+ years of experience as a tyre technician in an industrial or plant workshop environment. Strong knowledge of tyre types, structures, and repair methods. Ability to use tyre changers, balancing machines, and alignment tools. Physically fit to handle heavy tyres and workshop conditions. Strong attention to safety and preventive practices.
