A MEP Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates for MEP systems in building and infrastructure projects, supporting tender submissions, and ensuring proposals meet technical standards, budgets, and local rule compliance.
Key Responsibilities Estimation & Analysis Review, interpret, and analyze MEP drawings and specifications (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, drainage). Perform quantity take-offs and prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs). Break down costs for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractor services, and overheads. Develop multiple pricing scenarios and cost models to optimize bids.
Tender & Proposal Support Evaluate quotations from vendors and subcontractors for both technical and commercial compliance. Prepare financial proposals, ensuring accuracy, risk consideration, and alignment with project scope. Coordinate with technical, planning, legal, and contracts teams on tender submissions.
Coordination & Reporting Maintain updated pricing databases for MEP materials and systems. Provide cost analysis insights, risk assessments, and feasibility reports for management. Collaborate with the planning team on cost–time integration and schedule alignment.
Typical Qualifications & Skills???? Education Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
???? Experience Atleast 2 years of experience in MEP estimation (often 5+ years preferred in Saudi or Gulf region projects).
???? Technical Skills Strong understanding of MEP systems: HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, fire protection. Proficient with estimation tools/software (e.g., Excel, Auto CAD, Candy, Cost X). Knowledge of local and international codes/standards (e.g., NEC, ASHRAE, NFPA).
