Job Responsibilities
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive SOPs for all marine operations, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements
- Lead regular reviews and updates of operational procedures to optimize efficiency and safety
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies to ensure full compliance with maritime regulations and standards
- Establish and oversee documentation systems for all marine operations
Business & Technical Support
- Lead implementation and optimization of enterprise systems and other applications for marine operations
- Manage and enhance Magenta and other specialized marine logistics applications to support operational efficiency
- Serve as the primary liaison between technology department and marine operations, translating operational needs into technology requirements
- Identify, evaluate, and implement new technology solutions to streamline marine operations workflows
- Develop training programs and user guides for technology systems used in marine operations
- Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate with IT support to minimize operational disruptions.
Training Coordination & Development
- Serve as the primary Training Coordinator for the marine operations team
- Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for all marine operations staff
- Conduct training needs assessments and create personalized development plans
- Design and deliver specialized training modules on operational procedures, safety protocols, and technology systems
- Maintain detailed training records and certification tracking for all marine personnel
- Coordinate with external training providers for specialized maritime certifications
- Evaluate training effectiveness and continuously refine programs based on operational needs
- Implement mentorship programs to facilitate knowledge transfer within the team
- Ensure all team members maintain required certifications and qualification
Risk Management
- Develop and implement comprehensive risk assessment frameworks for marine operations
- Support in incident investigations and root cause analyses, developing preventative measures
- Establish and maintain emergency response protocols for various operational scenarios
- Coordinate regular safety drills and training programs in collaboration with vessel operators
- Monitor and analyze safety trends, implementing proactive measures to mitigate identified risks
Commercial & Business Development
- Collaborate with commercial teams to develop service offerings that meet client needs while optimizing operational efficiency
- Analyze market trends and competitor offerings to identify growth opportunities
- Contribute to contract negotiations with suppliers and clients, providing technical expertise
- Support business case development for fleet expansion or service enhancement initiatives
- Develop cost optimization strategies while maintaining service quality and reliability
Administrative Management
- Oversee administrative processes related to marine operations, ensuring efficiency and accuracy
- Manage vendor relationships and evaluate performance against service level agreements
- Coordinate with finance teams on budget planning and expenditure tracking
- Develop and implement performance metrics for administrative processes
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Serve as a liaison between marine operations and other departments, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
- Represent marine operations in cross-functional projects and initiatives
- Mentor junior staff and support their professional development
- Lead special projects as assigned by management
