Director – Risk Management

Job Purpose:


The Director of Risk Management will be responsible for establishing and leading a comprehensive risk management strategy within the aviation sector. This role aims to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks that may impact the organization's operations, safety, and compliance. By fostering a culture of risk awareness and resilience, the Director will ensure that the company adheres to regulatory requirements, protects its assets, and supports sustainable growth. The position will involve collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop effective risk mitigation strategies, enhance operational performance, and safeguard the organization's reputation in the aviation industry.


Key Responsibilities:


Risk Assessment & Analysis

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework tailored to the aviation sector.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities across all operational areas.
  • Analyze risk data and trends to inform decision-making and strategic planning.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all aviation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Stay updated on changes in legislation and regulatory requirements impacting risk management.

Risk Mitigation Strategies

  • Design and implement effective risk mitigation strategies and policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop risk management initiatives that enhance operational resilience.

Reporting & Communication

  • Prepare and present risk management reports to senior leadership and the board of directors.
  • Foster effective communication regarding risk management issues and initiatives across all levels of the organization.

Training & Development

  • Lead training programs to promote awareness of risk management practices among staff.
  • Mentor and develop a team of risk management professionals.

Crisis Management

  • Develop and maintain crisis management and business continuity plans.
  • Coordinate response efforts during emergencies and incidents to minimize impact.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Risk Manager, ISO 31000) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in risk management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the aviation industry.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing risk management frameworks and strategies.
