Job Purpose:
The Delivery Director is responsible for overseeing the successful execution and delivery of large-scale construction projects from concept to completion. This role requires a strategic leader with deep expertise in construction management, who can ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Delivery Director will work closely with cross-functional teams including design, engineering, procurement, and client management, while leading project managers and site teams in driving efficient project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of multiple construction projects, ensuring they meet the established scope, schedule, budget, and quality benchmarks.
- Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, architects, and engineers to ensure smooth communication and project alignment.
- Team Management: Oversee project management teams and site managers, providing mentorship, performance evaluations, and guidance on best practices.
- Budget Control: Manage project budgets, review financial reports, and ensure cost control throughout the construction process, identifying opportunities for cost savings without sacrificing quality.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks that could impact project delivery, ensuring the implementation of safety and compliance protocols at all stages of construction.
- Resource Allocation: Oversee resource planning, including labor, materials, and equipment, ensuring efficient use of resources across projects.
- Contract Management: Negotiate and manage contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers to ensure adherence to agreed terms and timelines.
- Quality Assurance: Establish and monitor quality control programs to ensure all construction work complies with design specifications, regulatory standards, and client expectations.
- Reporting: Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders, addressing key performance indicators (KPIs), challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with local and national construction codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in construction management, with a proven track record of delivering large-scale projects.
- 5+ years in a leadership role, managing multi-disciplinary teams, contractors, and complex construction projects.
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project, Procore, etc.).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and best practices.
- Certifications: PMP, LEED, or similar project management or sustainability certifications preferred.
