About the role:

As a Cost Control Engineer at our growing Construction company, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial well-being and profitability of our operations. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of cost accounting, including budgeting, cost analysis, and cost reporting.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive cost accounting systems and processes to accurately track and analyze production costs, material costs, labor costs, and overhead expenses.
  • Prepare detailed cost analyses and reports, identifying cost variances, trends, and opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams to understand cost drivers and provide recommendations for cost reduction strategies.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the annual budgeting process, ensuring accurate cost projections and budgetary controls.
  • Monitor and analyze actual costs against budgeted amounts, and provide timely and insightful variance analysis to the management team.
  • Maintain a detailed cost accounting database, including inventory valuation, work-in-progress, and finished goods costs.
  • Prepare periodic cost reports, including production cost reports, standard cost reports, and cost-volume-profit analyses.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring the accurate allocation and reporting of all manufacturing costs.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of cost accounting practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, cost-related sections of management reports, and other ad-hoc financial analyses as required.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies related to cost accounting.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Cost Control engineering, preferably in a Construction Industry.
  • Thorough understanding of cost accounting principles, including absorption costing, standard costing, and variance analysis.
  • Proficient in the use of ERP systems, cost accounting software, and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel) for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proven track record of ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and adapt to changing business requirements.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization.
