Job Purpose
The role holder will be responsible for leading, identifying, monitoring, and analyzing credit risk related issues on credit application and documents related to the account/portfolio assigned. The incumbent will assess the quality of the credit exposure sought to be undertaken and ensure adherence to established policies and procedures, SAMA regulations for the designated portfolio and accounts allocated for review. The role holder will also assume and exercise a delegated credit approval authority which will be defined in the bank’s credit exposure delegation of authority. The role holder will assist the Head Credit Risk (KSA) when required in various responsibilities including but not limited to managing the Credit Risk Team, preparation of reports, policy review, and serve as the Head’s during delegation assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform activities within the assigned Credit Risk Strategy that reflects the Bank’s tolerance for risk and the level of profitability the Bank expects to achieve for incurring various credit risks.
- Use standard process for evaluation of credit proposals ensuring that all approved credits are within NBB’s Credit Risk Strategy.
- Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with all other related departments and units to achieve the Bank’s goals and objectives.
- Exercise the Delegated Authority of lending with utmost integrity, diligence and in the interest of Bank.
- Should not engage directly or indirectly in business development activities or any other such activities that result in conflict of interest for a Risk functionary.
- Provide timely and accurate information about functional areas to the external and internal auditors and the compliance function as and when required.
- Adhere to the Turnaround Time (TAT) specified in Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Perform credit reviews in accordance with established and approved credit risk policies, procedures, SAMA guidelines, CBB guidelines and Basel.
- Ensure that the credit application circulated by the Business Units includes all material information for decision making and reflect accurately on all matters including but not limited to Financial, Market, Industry, Risk Analysis, Risk Rating, Structure of Facilities, Pricing, Process etc.
- Independently evaluate and highlight critical risks through risk memo and recommendations helping effective credit decision making by relevant committees.
- Possess a broad understanding of business process and controls in all related areas.
- Maintain utmost confidentiality in regard to customer information gathered in the credit assessment process.
- Review and approval of obligor rating on Credit Lens.
- Review of credit and other relevant policies.
- Perform portfolio analysis of corporate KSA book on periodic basis while ensuring monitoring and reporting early warning signals.
- MIS review and reporting of corporate banking (KSA) filings (BRF, ICAAP, Operational Risk etc), as and when required.
- Assist Head Credit Risk (KSA) in formulating Risk Management strategies for KSA branch.
- Monitor industry trends, macroeconomic indicators, and advise impact on corporate portfolio.
- Act as a back-up for Head Credit Risk at KSA branch.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, or in any other related discipline is required.
- Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Banking, or related major field of study is preferred.
- Professional qualifications such as CFA/PRM/FRM is preferred.
- Minimum of 5-6 years’ experience in Credit Risk Management function in a bank with 3 years of experience in the same or similar function.
